  3. I will admit, I got a bit excited when Slash had a long Godfather Theme riff right into Sweet Child of Mine. Some of the best guitar playing I have ever seen live. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Fuck, then right into the Star Spangled Banner. Fucking awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Thanks guys. It wasn't terrible but given that I was going to be sitting in grandstands at the Olympic trials, and because life is short, I took Imodium to resolve the situation. TMI, I know, but I bounced back into proper form and ate completely inappropriate foods for dinner. Thus, I give you Chicken and Doughnuts: beer and buttermilk brined chicken strips with sweet and smokey doughnut holes served with Sriracha maple dipping sauce. Pretty tasty along with some excellent beer at Bier Stein in Eugene.

  5. That can't be possible. The reseller in the focal utopia thread at the other site ( who sells Woo, Cavalli, Mr. Speakers and Focal, but not Stax) said that Stax 009 are vintage and antiquated, and that it is easily bested by the Ether E, and that the Ether E will be the premier estat once released. I hope folks aren't saying that either he is an idiot or a liar.

  7. Here's a fun weekend project. It's the Super Symmetry Dynalo. I need some sourcing help on three items. Case - It needs to be 5" x 7" x 1.75" (or 1U) Board is currently 4.8" x 6.8" Trim Pots - I wanted 10K surface mount multi-turn. The pattern I'm using currently is 3A (as listed in DipTrace) Push Switches - I need one for the Power (250VAC) SPST and one for the relay (24VDC) DPDT / SPDT. If I could find the same switch for both that would be great. I'd like a metal extrusion through the front chassis. I've used SPUJ190900 from Alps before, but this would only cover the relay. Thanks Some pics

  11. Thanks for the EtherE impressions, that's pretty much how I heard them too. They remind me much more of the KingSounds than Stax in terms of sound signature.

  14. It'll be interesting to see how people take this Durant has been pampered by the media his entire career, westbrook has always been the fall guy. If people turn on him, I don’t think he’ll take it well. He has super thin skin. This is 10x worse than what people got mad at LeBron about. You just joined the best regular season team of all time AND it’s the team that just took you out of the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion. A large part of the reason that even happened is because Durant played like crap. I feel bad for OKC fans. This would be like Karl leaving my Jazz in his prime to join the Bulls after the 97 finals. An MVP joining the best team in the league after losing to them. I’ve always said that it’s the players’ right to join any team they want, this is just kinda sad imo.

  17. Of course Brent found the video immediately. Not the best recording, or seats, but I think if you look hard you can see me way off to the left by the stage. I am wearing my Rare Barrel hat.

  18. Ouch...that is not good!! The King Sound were some of the worst electrostatics I've ever tried. They tick virtually every box in the "wtf were the thinking" list.

  22. We had a meet yesterday here in Houston. Great time and I got to listen to some fun setups. MrSpeakers had sent their Ether E prototypes so I brought my KGSSHV Carbon along as I'd read they require mo' power. My chain was 44/16 FLAC files via DEEZER Elite or via iTunes on my MacAir using BitPerfect > Ygg DAC > Carbon. Those that posted that the Ether's are power hungry were not kidding. The Carbon is a beast (thanks George) and uses the GR HV psu with 680uf 500v rated caps and a DACT stepper...it's a GREAT amp and absolutely makes my 007A's sing (thank you for awesome designs Kevin). Anyhow, I had to turn the knob to say 2 o'clock to get the Ether's to really make music and, as a reference, the 007A's were screaming loud at that point. The L300's there and a nice pair of 404 Signatures were really screaming at that volume level. The prototypes clearly need more work, which I figure is to be expected. If you're sitting next to someone using them, it's like you've got an old school radio playing...they bleed that much sound. Also, the micro details and that holographic instrument separation and placement are not there compared to the Stax. I expected them to hit harder down low given what a gent had told me, but with the Carbon the 007A's bass was deeper, more present and impactful IMO. The Ether's are more treble and upper mid's forward. A bit sparkly for me, but not terrible. I like the 007A's because they are what they are and I don't do peaky upper's too well anymore...getting old. Overall, fun to listen to as I like getting to play with prototype stuff, but a long way from competing with mid to upper tier Stax equipment. They are going to need one hell of an amp unless they make them more efficient. On a side note, I got to listen to some Canned Heat out of a Stax 006t with NOS tubes powering a pair of 404 Signatures and was pretty darn impressed with that rig. Great value for $ IMO. The L300's were fun, but a bit to bright for me and definitely light on the lower mids and bass front. HS
