  7. Thanks, but it's not impressive either. You only need; A "portable" GRLV (Or rather three GRLV ) Four CFA´s: And Unbal/Bal boards: At the last moment I decided to add a phono preamp (a VSPS) for MM and a capacitative buffer. With a knob you can select the line inputs (one XLR, two SE and one SE for the phono preamp). With the other knob you can select from where you want to send the output signal; directly from the unbal / bal, from unbal / bal + Cap buffer or put the mute. Unfortunately I have not been able to finish the preamp yet. I need to finish Diamond buffers. I have also been working on lighting the volume control.

  9. Guys, Dr. Gilmore has done a review of the Buffer's design. Includes several improvements like two servos (one for the input and one for the output) resistance for the input impedance, trimpot for bias ... diffinput5b - CADCAM.ZIP diffinput5b.PDF All in the same size as the previous board. These improvements help solve the two problems that I have encountered: A) Oscillation by impedance in the input B.) Offset due to Fets Thanks Dr. Gilmore

  10. Yeah, that was fantastic. I especially liked the muscle lady -- she was literally larger than life, and she acted the part, moving like a muppet at times. And she was definitely enjoying hamming it up.

  11. I love my Weber Genesis, but I would spring for the s-310. About $100 more but the top is stainless so easier maintenance there and the grilling grates are more durable and also easier to maintain. I actually have the previous incarnation but there is not a whole lot of difference between mine and the newest model.

  12. I realize I'm a couple of decades late to this party, but I saw The Larry Sanders Show was streaming on HBOGO and decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did, it is F#$%ing hilarious!

  16. Man, those Arthelute speakers are expensive! at least they use TAD 2001's so they probably sound alright wonder how they compare to the TAD 2402? i listened to a pair once, and even though they sounded good, they sure could benefit from some good subs and supertweeters.

  19. No. We've measured 6 different sets from varying serial numbers (early-late) and found minimal to no differences. Most typically .5-1.5dB along various regions from 1.5khz-6khz. In all cases, bass response was near identical. There was a rare set of 'early' pads that a user has reported using on his early model 800 that was both thinner and excessively worn out that he used to do all his A/B comparisons with. He since replaced them w/ new pads and says they sound like a different animal. No kidding. The bass light/bass heavy HD800 is myth by all accounts and evidence we've seen, both subjective and objective. The greatest explanation for HD800 variation is upstream gear, then lack of gain matching and then perhaps head/ear placement. One will also notice a trend toward more balanced HD800s recently because their upstream gear is often upgraded over time, this is a possible correlation as well. The one area we know Sennheiser has changed was how they are putting out user FR charts w/ reduced 6khz peaks for the sake of marketing. We've measure present and absent 6khz peaks based on Senn graphs to be essentially identical. It's the same reason Audeze started randomizing serial #'s. To manage consumer perception which limits negative fiscal impacts to them.

  20. Great to see all of you guys! I really like the HD800 too, Voltron. I don't think of the resolution and presentation as shortcomings. They might be the best headphones I have heard. But they are, in many ways, the most unique as well. Having owned the HD600, HP-1, HP-2, RS1, Omega 2, the HD800 seem most similar to the O2. Maybe I am crazy for saying that. They seem like the O2 with more "dynamic" qualities. Of course, I don't listen to headphones as much as many people here. I consider my amp a speaker/power amp that happens to have a headphone jack... Speaking of which, here is a photo of the amp with updated iron, 5AR4 instead of 5R4W, and the HD800:

  21. It got stolen this weekend, but my 26 miles on it since new were mostly great. The bike handled really well, rode like a dream. I had to grease some parts as I was getting some creaking, but I'm definitely a Clydesdale, and would chalk it up to that after some messing around with it. Would buy again, but I'm sick of talking about it now. My kid's bike was also stolen, and having to watch him cry for hours (it was after one of our few rides together since being in Seattle, and we had a fantastic night, only to be ruined by theft.

  23. RIP to one of our cats, Gryphon "Diablo" Just got back Saturday from 2 weeks in Australia, and while we knew he had some issues, it turned out to be a large and aggressive tumor of some sort. According to our neighbor watching the house and cats, the "eaten" food amount dropped significantly on Thursday. We took him in today, got the bad news; then I got Andrew at school so he could say goodbye. Pics from when we first got him (he's the tuxedo cat), and a couple years ago. RIP bud.....
