  1. Here's some pics of the power supply inside a Canon build...

  2. Thanks folks. Aerial picture of old and new “mini T2”. The new just got a top plate, looks rather nice when newly polished. Small holes in front of small tubes are for trimmers. I drilled two 6.5mm holes in the old to plate (between big tubes) for the balance servo jumpers. Made this jumper with a piece of cable and heat shrink.

  3. I experienced something pretty phenomenal yesterday afternoon. I was hanging out with friends on the last afternoon of the March 2019 Texas Mile watching the last few racers remaining make passes. The conditions were good....very good. Steady tailwind and the temps were dropping. The current record holder, a last gen Ford GT that's been Gulf Oil colors (my personal favorite livery) beat his prior record over the weekend...went 297 over his 293mph. Ungodly speeds for a standing mile (and lets not forget there is the whole stopping thing over limited real estate). Well....the team ticked off a 300.4mph pass...HOLY COW!!! The crowd was a bit thin but we all lit up. My friends and I were watching mid-track and listening to the announcer as the marker speeds were called out. Absolutely thrilling moment for me personally and I think for many of the mile racers there. vroom vroom... HS

  4. First time riding the lower trails after the rain melted all the snow. Things have changed drastically this year! Some deep puddles in the first pic, the second is more representative of the current water level.

  5. Many years ago when I was first getting into the headphone audio hobby I was told by a headphone amp manufacturer "who are you going to believe, me or your lying ears"?

  6. Another Gilmore CFAE is first powered up. No smoke, no POP, no drama. I used the first GB split PCBs for this build. All part values per the PCB. Powersupply for the moment is a BHSE from an old KGST: B+ = +353.8; B- = -358.1 Left Channel Offset: +7.19/+10.53; Balance: 3.34; Bias(mA): 8.28/8.24/8.23/8.15 Right Channel Offset: +8.42/+8.91; Balance: 0.49, Bias (mA): 8.35/8.23/8.68/8.60 After an hour, heat sinks are barely warm to the touch. Hooked up with an iPhone X direct input as source and STAX 207 it sounds very promising. Will swap in a TKD volume pot soon to see if things improve ditching the distal volume control. Thanks to all, especially Kevin, Congo5, Joachim, Michael, and Jose.

  7. LOL...your friend is a wise man, mikey! That's a great response I might have to borrow. I have run just short of 212mph but in a much heavier car. Never liked using my chute, but I can tell you the molecules I was shoving with my poor coefficient of drag on my 4500lb + Challenger were a lot. Your point about "dancing" is well taken also. I recall one time I left and apparently a strong crosswind hit me near the top of the track and at about 180mph I had little if any steering. Didn't realize what happened until my friends told me this big wind came in after I left. It's a crazy hobby but boy what a thrill. There are only rumors about what the Ford GT makes at the rear wheel. We are thinking somewhere between 3000 and 4000 rwhp. Nuts. HS

  8. I would be very skeptical of anything he says as replies like that just ping every BS meter there is. It's an age old audiophool trend to look past crap build quality and every other indicator because "the sound is so good" but it rarely holds any water. The bottom like is for me, the L700's will probably be playing just fine in 30 years but can we say the same about the Jade?

  9. Cozy Speedy family. I'm taking a break from Apple Watches. This Speedy goes better with Japanese selvedge work shirts than any smart watch would. Hodinkee navy Horween shell strap with a 60s vintage Omega buckle. I wear the pre-moon on its bracelet mostly. It's nice having a second Speedy, for strap wear. And this is why I like 20/16 straps, as it let's me wear vintage buckles.

  12. wow - that is pretty spectacular. most people don't really know how fast 300 really is. just how much air you have to get out of the way. It was dancing - but looked pretty stable. People would ask my friend Dave about his 68 mustang fastback (about 800hp) drag car, how fast it could go on the road - his response was - until it wrecks.
