  1. This could be trouble. First results were very promising, if not entirely drinkable. I'll toy with grind just a big more to get a full extraction but tomorrow morning should be fun and interestingly enough, I liked the flavor of the straight latte enough that I don't think I'd add sugar. That's a big change from how I drink straight coffee.

  2. Almost done casing the Dynahi. The input XLR sockets are temporary, waiting for the Neutrik ones to arrive. Also, cased the dual GRLV PSU which I will be using for both the SUSY Dynahi and balanced CFA. Two Antek 100VA transformers and the GRLVs are set for 30VDC rails.

  5. Appetizer: Sous-vide ~32 hour ribs, + oven after chilling + finish in cast iron Main: 28oz NY Strip - reverse seared Chef is a bit of a dick, but the food was solid (except for a few bites that were a fatty plasma/liquid ecstasy combo).

  6. Good info, Jose, I never understood why, but it is a special song. I'll check out Earl's interpretation when I have time.

  7. Started off the day by putting my big clumsy foot through the hose of Miele vacuum and breaking it but good. A replacement is $155 minimum because mine's got the wiring for a power nozzle. Luckily, I can get the replacement part for the non powered version and (I think) pilfer the bits I need, doing a repair myself. I realize I'm preaching to the choir here, but there is so much to be said for buying items of quality. This Miele was $400 for the base unit, 20 years ago. The power nozzle and turbo nozzle were like $250 more. The machine is still going strong (my own clumsiness notwithstanding). Similarly, my 2006 Echo weed whacker was like $500 and the spinning blade of doom attachment was another $150 with the "don't cut your stupid self" bar. I can get it serviced every year for under $100 and it still deals with the kudzu like growth on my property. Now if anyone needs me, I'm seeking to get my precious 2003 mic preamp repaired and upgraded.

  8. Watched this morning: Eroica. A BBC film about Beethoven and the first rehearsal of his 3rd. Wonderful rendition of the symphony by Gardiner, by the way. It's on Youtube, you have it as a 9 part watch list or a version with Spanish subtitles. They're not very annoying

  9. Yes I means "Spartacus Love Theme". If your set has a minimum of quality (and I know that you have a nice set ? ) you can appreciate the three pianos interacting in the interpretation of "Spartacus Love Theme". A small change in volume is noticed. I´m not sure if this effect was tried to minimize in the mixing of the three tracks to give the impression of listening to a "single" piano or not, but in some moments the difference in volume is clearly noticeable. Yes... "Peace Piece" has something "magical". I guess that this chords (Cmaj7 y G9sus4) has something... and then Bill seems to float on the melody. I guess that's why the two takes of "Flamenco Sketches" are my faborite Miles Davis songs Something similar happens to me with "Spartacus Love Theme". Since we are talking about "Spartacus Love Theme", Earl Klugh has a nice interpretation too. This album was given to me by my first music teacher in 1991 Well, I leave it, I have already screwed up the thread with my paranoia ?

  10. Listening to "Some Other Time" (or "Peace Piece") I felt like listening to this other Evans album. The improvisation on the theme of love of "Spartacus" is simply magical: Bill Evans "The Solo Sessions" Although most famous interpretation (three pianos) is here.

  12. I'm so glad that I am old enough to tell IT and any institution I work for to go pound dirt or I will bring in my grants as a private consultant. Science is not for political hacks, i.e campus administrators.
