  1. While I love Chicago. I was born and lived there all the way through college. I feel really bad for my friends isolating in the city. Here in the mountains I'm good. On call so no dirt bike, trials bike, mountain bike or side by side. I had to settle for playing on the mountain passes in the viper.

  3. I bought a couple of the Glencairn Canadian whisky glasses, and I really like them. They've become my preferred glass for neat whisky, highballs, and beer. Next to original Glencairn for scale.

  4. I love my GC Canadian whiskey glasses too. The only ones I prefer to those are the double walled glasses that came with the flask from Aged & Ore

  5. grawk, The NFC disc for the Niche Zero showed up. A few images....well, trying. They are HEIC so I'm going to have to get creative. The Niche is very nicely constructed, as it should be given they are proud of it. HS

  6. Lily still loves cooking shows and recently has been bugging me to have a cake-off with her. It was my turn this weekend to make my cake for judging. She helped me in preparation for making her cake next weekend. It's a chocolate cake with dark chocolate frost and chocolate ganache and raspberry filling between each of the three layers of cake, topped with more frost and ganache. It was fun to make, I'll report back with how. it tastes later. Maybe not professional grade, but at least the flour that I buy at the grocery store is going to good use. I rode 30 miles to prepare for the fact that this cake is allegedly nearly 1000cal/slice. EDIT - not sure I ever posted a "complete" picture of the kitchen, if not, this gives you a good idea of what it looks like now.

  7. If any of you guys are jonesing for an F1 race, here's a favorite of mine. 1986 Australian GP in Adelaide was the final race that year and the points were tight. I used to have this race on video tape but it was lost decades ago. YouTube to the rescue!

  11. I don't try to go fast really. Just hold the speed limit or a little over through the corners to feel a bit of Gs. But yes the 8.4L NA engine has tons of power everywhere. It actually pulls even harder starting at about 1500rpm before redline which really surprised me for an engine of this size. If I want to go fast I keep it to the track and because I don't want to go broke I prefer tag carts. Wife shot a video of the middle of the pass on her iphone. She actually cut it off before my favorite parts.. Need to setup my Sony action cam in the car. https://youtu.be/m0NIDXXZyYc

  12. Perhaps not, but a much more satisfying way to go. Only drove the roads to the east today. Going west to Tahoe has been off limits due to late season storms. Snow pack is actually up to a respectable level after March and it just keeps coming. The water levels should be good for the summer.

  15. I made some progress on improving the cup I'm getting from the Levercraft. I went with a slightly finer grind and a little longer extraction in the french press and the results were good. This was with the Mexican bean, which I preferred to begin with. I'll run through the a few more of those beans before I try the same approach with the Burundi and see how it goes. I admit to not having a whole lot of interest in the subtleties of making coffee, I very much like to just grind, brew, consume (repeat as needed) without much/any fiddling.

  22. Horrible days. It comes to my attention that musicians are being way less fortunate falling sick from that fucking virus than actors and other artists. I'm wondering if they made lesser money. RIP Bill, Bucky, Marcelo, Mike, Wallace and Manu
