You can tell it's vintage from the big bush.

  4. The Mirror Thief by Martin Seay Really fancy writing covering several time periods, from contemporary Las Vegas to Renaissance Venice... I can't remember having to reach for my dictionary so many times in recent memory.

An interesting thing to try for those of you who may have 007 mk1 pads lying around, try putting them on the ES-1a. I've tried 007 mk2 pads and the effect of those pads is quite different. The mk1 pads significantly linearizes the midrange, taking the excess energy around 1-1.5khz down a bit and pulling the presence region (2-5khz) up a bit. It also makes the ES-1a slightly less hot in the treble past 8Khz, which I find is a welcome change. For me personally the 007 pads also seal better on the head, and since the leakage tolerance of electrostatic headphones is quite low this is a welcome change. I wouldn't say the tonality is ideal with these pads either, but it's about as close as I've come to it.
  6. Aesthetically IMO it´s a beautiful frame, I like the idea of not having the vertical tube (where the seatpost goes) and I like the idea of using the same "look" frame for everything (road and mountain). I'm not an expert but I'm not sure if it´s whether there is an advantage in weight / resistance vs. a current carbon frame (multi layers) and specific either for road or MTB. On the other hand, without a vertical tube that helps support the rider's weight, these pods have to be quite robust... and heavy. For general use such as going for a walk, excursions, moving around the city, etc. I think it would work
  7. I've got Koss 950, so unless the Koss 95X sounds totally different from the 950. Which I doubt, I don't see how 007 Koss 95X tuned alike.
  8. Techmoan is a great champion of defunct media technologies. Thought you guys would be amused by this one – a giant audio cassette:
  9. I would kill for a 1U dissapante case.
  10. Agreed, And if "flagship" product refers to the most expensive model in the line, my experience is that it does not guarantee that the more expensive model necessarily outperforms the less expensive ones. I have both the 007 and 009 on hand, I like them both. Each has its merits and faults. In addition to the music genre, I pick which one to listen with based on my mood-swing and sometimes the alignment of the moon and sun.
  11. Getting ready over at sfjazz.org. Again only $5 for four shows people!
  12. God I hate installing carts Managed not to blow anything up, as the pass ono requires opening the top to access the MC settings and add a jumper for setting gain 🤦‍♂️ at least the cart was pretty easy to install due to threaded mounting holes and the cart pins actually lining up directly with the headshell pins. gratuitous doggie pics!
