  1. RIP to my mother-in-law Roslyn (Roz) Greenfield. The video pretty much shows who she is. A kind woman, well put together even into her 93rd year (she missed her 93rd birthday by 2 days); but also someone who can laugh at herself and life. She would often call one of her 3 daughters Taffy, their dog's name....typical name forgetfulness. RIP Roz Greenfield, you were a beautiful soul. Family History.MOV

  3. In my understanding, setting a higher sample rate will cause the OS to digitally upsample or downsample the source material to match. I don’t know if it’s audible from an ABX test perspective, but it mucks with the signal. I suspect it doesn’t matter for upsamples of multiples of the original (like 44kHz to 88kHz or 48 to 96), but interpolation (44 to 96) might introduce artifacts. (I might be wrong about this.) A higher output bit depth than the source material should be fine: the extra bits will be set to 0, and that’s that. No information added, removed, or changed.
  4. The transformer and covers both from from Antek: https://www.antekinc.com/ca-100-steel-cover/ The rear panel has a diyaudio soft start circuit (blue pcb) and also amb audios ε24 power switch driver circuit/small transformer for the momentary switch on the front. Next to the output on the front is Kevins balanced headphone protector.

    Impressive treatment-to-speaker ratio.
  6. Exclusive is mostly to not get beeped and booped at as emails and chats roll in. I'm mixed on spatial audio. With the APM and HD800 the stereo tracks sound correct, natch. Atmos spatial sounds like a good binaural filter at best, and a bad one at worst. Is that a game changer? I dunno.
  7. I do need a planar... but HD800S are amazing with the CFA2. Comparative to the mini dynalo it’s more refined, open, bass has better detail and impact. I’ve not heard the HD800S sound this good, not quite as good as the SR-007 with a Carbon, but could be very content with the small compromises.

that subwoofer is thinking “what the hell did I get myself into?”
  9. In the light of the moon, holding on to a good star, a painter of rainbows is now traveling across the night sky... Eric Carle was 91...
  10. RIP Linc https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/06/06/obituaries/clarence-williams-iii-dead.amp.html And then there was one.
  11. I got some terribly sad news last night from one of my sisters that a close family friend lost her baby in week 40 of her pregnancy. It would have been her and her husband's second child. I can't even imagine how devastated they must be. It is very, very sad.
