  1. 12.5 hours, 750 miles, road construction and Kansas City MO rush hour traffic. Tried to find a place to stay. Had no idea KC was hosting the NFL draft nor that almost every room in the area is booked. Drove another hour and a quarter to stay in Topeka. Will finish my cigar and find food then a few drams of scotch before I crash and burn.

  2. Boss pulled me aside this morning. Told me that I came in well under the projected budget on the job I finished up about a month ago. He asked me if there was any tool that I hadn't already bought for myself? I told him that the only tool I own that still needs a wall outlet is my table saw. So... I found the best deal on it that I could, and they told me to put it on my company card. And as soon as I ordered it, one of my coworkers offered me $150 for my corded version. Makita doesn't make a cordless table saw, but this will work just fine.

  6. I find it kind of repetitive and focusing around the idea of other PF releases. Kind of made by a goofy graphic designer who doesn't really know where is leading to.

  7. and yet the audio precision actually reports .0008 % thd at 1khz. so much for that being worth anything. sure looks like about 10 volts per microsecond slew rate. pretty grim at higher voltage levels. winding transformers correctly really is not that hard. too bad the lundhal transformers won't fit inside the box. hmm, there is that size thing again. (usa_love) what really gets me is the really poor soldering job, probably there is a significant failure rate of topping products in the field. And yet led lit sails that makes you think there are tubes inside. my guess is that the koss box sounds better than this, for roughly the same price. quoting from someone who knows how to actually make transformers like this.. quote In a transformer winding, inter-turn capacitance is generally negligible compared to inter-layer capacitance. We can approximate the winding self-capacitance within a small factor by considering only the capacitance between winding layers, approximating the layer to a conductor sheet. The highest capacitance arrangement is when each layer is wound in opposite directions, so left to right on the first, right to left on the next. That's because the first turn of the first layer is opposite the last turn of the next layer, so there's twice the voltage per layer between those turns. As the energy stored in the self-capacitance goes as the square of the voltage, this more than offsets the lower voltage difference at the other side of the windings. A lower capacitance can be obtained by winding each layer in the same direction, returning between layers, so left to right, then left to right again. The voltage between layers is now uniform at the per layer voltage. end quote transformers made this way have to be partially done by hand. no winding machine currently available does this. its why esl63 replacement transformers are $500 each.

  8. Thanks again for all your support and generosity. NFLO! I really liked the shirt design that we had this year. It was a 'chance of rain' type of day, like normal around here. But we had a nice gathering, lovely sharing and connection with the community, and then a nice 2.8 mile walk around Green Lake. We hope to continue to make it grow and involve more partners. And continue to share the idea that 'We believe in a world where everyone belongs.ā€ Cheers and thanks, Mikey šŸ™ https://givebutter.com/Walk4Belonging

  9. I haven't listened to Fuse yet, but it's in my "to do" list. Her voice change makes me wonder if she's a smoker. She's not that old to have such a noticeable downshift in her voice pitch. I like it anyway. Still my favourite album of theirs is Idlewild.

  11. Todd, I know that you're intrigued by these speakers. And I also know that you're very busy. You probably should purchase these and send them to me to do an extensive review for you. 5 years should be long enough for me to evaluate them. No thanks necessary. Just helping a guy out.

  12. Tracey's voice has definitely "aged" - not necessarily in a bad way. Their new album Fuse is pretty nice, they kept going with the modern sound and it's quite good (as much as I loved their more ballad-like songs).

  14. What the hell is this show? One of the stronger pilot episodes I can remember. Buckaroo Bonzai vibes crossed with The Prisoner, starring the brainy bombshell from GLOW. I’m intrigued.

  18. This is amusing, but it's to ...spazzy. If they work out smoother transitions between the AI generated iterations, they'll really be on to something. As it stands now the idea is neat but the execution is seriously lacking.
