I have a post about photos I took of Katherine the dancer in 2006 and am still processing in 2023 with modern software (and, ahem, 17+ years of refined skills) as well as what I've actually been doing lately. That's all gonna hafta wait because I learned that it's possible to attach the absolutely gargantuan Canon FD 800mm F/5.6L to Canon DSLRs and Sony mirrorless bodies. Or attach the lens to the camera, as the case may be. To the surprise of no one, the old FD 800L is a cult lens. Of course someone stuck one on a Graflex Speed Graphic 4x5 camera. Don't ask me about coverage. WTF does one shoot with an optical trombone like that? The moon, obviously. Long teles are actually really good for landscapes. They compress the perceived distance between objects. This is reason #497 why large format cameras are better at landscape photos. Sony bodies actually let the user enter the lens type so it appears in EXIF. It might be the case that modern Canons can do this as well. Now this is my kind of photo. Nearing abstraction. There are also a legion of critter photos taken with the FD 800. TBH if I had one I'd probably attempt that as well. Quack.4 points

Hello Nasty (Deluxe Edition/Remastered) Beastie Boys 1998 https://album.link/i/721224205 Example: like you don't know it - I was going to pull a deep cut - but this is just too good. "Intergalactic, kill the children, kill the children, intergalactic.." I know it does not say that... Anyway, a really good album. I would almost put it squarely in the acid jazz category. So many great tracks that hit hard, and with dynamics and diversity. Worthy revisit.3 points

Decided to try my hand at chicken parm. Pan friend, panko crusted thin chicken breasts, on the grill side burner to limit indoor mess. Always better by sunset light. Baked with homemade tomato sauce with mozzarella and parmesan cheese. One cutlet was left cheese free for Lily who claims that she's becoming lactose intolerant. All agreed that it was excellent.3 points

I know lists like this are subjective and always leave stuff out, but no K1000?2 points

More than anything, check air pressures in the suspension. Would not be fun to bottom out the front and get launched due to low pressure.2 points

I don’t want to start a political discussion here but DiFi had an incredible career as a public servant. There’s room for debate on whether keeping her in office this long was appropriate but she did it as another service to her state and country. The republicans claimed they would not follow senate protocol and would refuse to allow her appointed replacement to take over her committee assignments etc. They held her hostage in my opinion and I’ll be curious to see how it plays out after she died in office. /end rant RIP Senator Feinstein, you deserve the rest.2 points

Hi plaurids, If you touch the the ground pole in the rear of the energizer and the hum disappears, then it's most likely that the hum is from the energizer itself. In my experience, some headphones can be more sensitive to hum than the others. It has something to do with the coating material of the diaphragms. If the coating material on the diaphragm has a low resistance, then it can make the phones hum more easily.1 point

Vaňhal: Symphonies, Vol. 5 Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, Michael Halász 2022 https://album.link/i/1608575307 Example: Overall a nice selection of work, very much in the Classical Era, and well recorded and performed. Would recommend. I didn't really know Vanhal's work (or Wanhal, among others). But known and liked by his contemporaries, and I can see why.1 point

I don't like to get too political either, but it's too late for that. Everyone here knows I'm a liberal Democrat. I do however believe in crossing the isle to work with Republicans to get things done. That is just becoming increasingly impossible with what has become of the Republican party. Dianne was an amazing politician. Her accomplishments are too vast to mention here. Not only a role model for women, but a role model for anyone that believes our Government has a role to play in helping it's citizens. I'm sorry she didn't live long enough to see the ultra MAGA contingent ousted.1 point

My parents owned a Mexican restaurant in Anchorage for a short time while I was growing up. The Chili Verde we served at that restaurant was pork based. But it was very different from almost all other Chili Verde I've ever had, by necessity. At that time in the 70's, tomatillos were not available in Alaska. So the previous owner of the restaurant developed a recipe where the 'Verde' was greens based. I think it was a combination of mustard and collard greens. It sounds weird, but it was actually delicious. In fact I still crave it all the time, with no way to quench that craving, as the recipe has been lost for decades now. I just think it's kind of interesting that a complete re-thinking of a popular recipe out of need could develop a very different, but equally delicious variant.1 point

RIP Tim Wakefield, Boston Red Sox relief pitcher. 57 years old is awfully young. Also screw Curt Schilling who is never not an absolute clown.0 points
