  1. Thanks everyone. Great to have this community. Fun, chill day so far with family gift giving and heading to the coast for a friend's gathering shortly. Hope everyone is having a great holiday too.

  5. This is far from a review, but my impressions from the first few days of listening to them through Doug's Bridgeport transformer are overwhelmingly positive. These things are too expensive but they are the real deal. All I really care about is detail, so I was willing to give up bass extension in the SR-1a and, to a lesser extent, the CA-1a, but here there is no need for a trade. They are every bit as detailed and incisive as their siblings but with very present bass extension. These do not struggle with an open "B" string on an electric bass, which is ~30 Hz, and that is fucking impressive for a nearly massless ribbon you strap to your head. I'm awfully impressed and therefore given to hyperbole, but they might be the best headphones I've ever heard (I have not heard the HE-1). They are certainly my favorite.
  6. How is your sainted octogenarian mother doing Knucks? Has anything frozen off of you? Hope things are looking better today.

  14. https://gradolabs.com/products/grado-headphone-replacement-cushion-f Look familiar? Grado is now selling "F-Cushions", aka "Flat Pads... and these headphones come with both G (salad bowels) and F (flats) cushions. They also have a nice little chart on their pad page that shows all the things that they work with: https://gradolabs.com/collections/headphone-cushions One thing I'm happy about, as someone who has had HF-2s that have been down for a couple years due to a bad cable and I just haven't gotten together with @cetoole (who has a Tyll-esque appreciate for Grados) to recable them, is that they have an effective-standard of mini-XLR jacks for cables. That opens up SO many opportunities to make something ridiculous. Who is the first person to make the plunge and then have @n_maher woody them?
  15. Hi everybody, I have a 300 Limited and, unfortunately, I stumbled upon the problem of the very poor quality arch... despite the fact that I used it gently at one point, already on the head, the arch broke in two (I put a photo here) I made a repair with harmonic steel lamina and two-component structural adhesive and it seemed to be fine...but it snapped again right next to the lamina edge... the plastic that Satx uses for this detail really sucks now I inquired for a replacement part, Stax no longer sells only the arch but now obliges to buy the whole assembly... the problem is that the original one mounted on the 300 Limited has proven (you can find several examples on the net and confirmations on Facebook among Stax owners) to be very bad, to improve quality at "normal" level it would then be necessary to switch to the Arch Ass'y MK2 which however costs, here in Italy, 380.00 euro! (these Stax people must be completely crazy to ask for such a price) now, I would like if possible to avoid being sodomized by Stax forcing the purchase of a replacement at great expense to fix a serious quality problem of which they cannot be unaware... does anyone have any suggestions? some say one could cannibalize arch and pavilion attachments from another headphone (of another brand) that has mechanical compatibility (with slight DIY adaptation)...does anyone have experience with this? Any idea? Every idea is welcome... I do hate the possibility to pay more then 300 euros for that thanks in advance for the help
