  1. My favorite Cowboy Junkies album is Caution Horses. Not as well recorded as The Trinity Sessions, but I like the music more. Sun Comes Up It's Tuesday Morning is just a beautiful stream of consciousness gritty song, and 'Cause Cheap Is How I Feel evokes a ton of feeling as well.... There was a newer release in the last few years, called Sharon, that has some of the first recordings from the album; it was a failed attempt to do similar single-mic recording as Trinity, but the space wasn't as good. Just some interesting stories around the making of the record.... Of course, I was in love with Margo Timmins too, so that helps the enjoyment 🙂

  3. Cleaning up my queue a little bit. I was listening to this when I read about Tina, so that occupied my queue for a while. Beethoven: Violin Sonatas Nos. 4, 9 & 10 Andrew Wan, Charles Richard-Hamelin 2021 https://album.link/i/1581150773 Example: Not great - but really good. I guess that is not really fair, I did like it enough to listen to it twice. I don't know the Label or the performers. It is well recorded with a very live feel. Phantasmagoria or a Different Kind of Journey Eivind Aarset 2021 https://album.link/i/1575767827 Example: Holy smokes that was cool. The info just talked about him being a guitarist, not an amazing composer and crafter of sounds. Added to my list of people. Now: The Trinity Session Cowboy Junkies 1988 https://album.link/i/299789347 Example: Famous in my world for all its audiophile goodness. I had been thinking about it ever since listening to Le Ren. It holds up for all the right reasons. An Incredible recording and just a super cool performance. Okay - caught up.

  5. Goncalo Alves or possibly bocote would be my guess. If it feels exceptionally heavy and dense, then maybe granadillo or cocobolo.

  6. Been working on a box of sorts I guess. Unsure if my dad needs a box but he sure is gonna get one. Still need to do some sanding, cut the lid down to size and put finish on, this is just after the glue dried on the joints.

  8. I never thought this ridiculous product would see the light of day. What an awful concept. But Dyson have had much more serious products bomb. They developed a washing machine. Normally washing machines have a big block of concrete in the back to stop the spin cycle from making the machine jump around and shake itself to bits. Which is why washing machines are stupidly heavy. Dyson came up with a contra rotating drum and active stabilization. A superb idea - much lighter weight, quiet (because Dyson understand motors) - and so punishingly expensive that very few bought it. Let's not forget that James Dyson's first product was the Ball Barrow - the usual wheel on a wheel barrow was replaced by a ball - so you could turn corners more easily. Of course lots of companies make them now because Dysons' patent on this is long expired. But typical of the man - he took the concept of a ball on an axle to boat launching and other marine activities. But the product that came to define him was the cyclone vacuum cleaner. Developed in his back room of his modest house. Then Hoover took his patent, copied it and started making them. Dyson fought back, and won with massive punitive damages. But the reviews have it right for the daft headphone/filter thing. All Dyson's current products are to do with motor technology and filtration, and excellent product form and feel. And this massive headphone construct with the mask is no exception. For all its weight and laughable appearance, it is superbly designed and built.

  11. Yep, ASR's evaluation is just based entirely on measurements... My source told me that topping has also designed a discrete component version of electrostatic amp to drive estats directly, ap show that its specs far exceed any known electrostatic amps, and it will be on the market sometime in the future. . .🤷‍♂️
