CDs, vinyl are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011
skullguise replied to Grahame's topic in Music
Went to a small vinyl show/sale today, hosted by a store in the top floor of an old mill in Lowell MA. Place wasn't laid out super well, but they had maybe 8-10 vendors/people selling viny (as well as the ability to walk in the store as well; the vendors lined the hallways and an open area near the store). A bit of the usual populace was there, older men like me who love to talk music. A pleasantly surprising number of women, several of whom seemed to know their stuff. But I'd say 60-70% were pure hipster.....sorry, but your clothes, haircuts including several man-buns and thick beards are just annoying, as is your habit to take your time in front of many bins and talk to your friends while others are waiting. But overall a decent show, prices weren't too outrageous but likely bumped up some for them hipsters. Came back with about 1/2 a dozen pieces of vinyl. My favorite catch was a Germs 10" called Cat's Clause, and the down-memory-lane discussion I had with the seller about alt & punk bands from "the day" -
Thanks Jon, just pinged him to see about getting one.....can't resist, nice deals.....

^^^ That's awesome, I've always liked the Hypex/NCore sounds from amps I've had or heard!

^^^ I'd take rain right now, definitely. The worst of the next storm will be a bit South of me (Boston and South, into Connecticut and Rhode Island), but Nate and I are in the 3-6" band according to one newscast. Up to 10" elsewhere....lovely.

Very Happy Birthday Al!!

My company had done some 2008 to 2012 migrations before i started there so i had heard, but I have also heard 2003 was a different enough animal that I'm not sure it would be any help. Found this link, though: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/canitpro/2014/04/01/step-by-step-active-directory-migration-from-windows-server-2003-to-windows-server-2012-r2/

Good luck Nate! We have probably about 18", thankfully we still have power. Right before the storm I cleared out some more branches from one side of our driveway, and this allowed our plow to do a good first run. Andrew did a bit of shoveling, will finish tomorrow morning so we can get our washer and dryer delivered.... Crazy days.

You too Nate, and wishing well for all in the path. Not hearing TOO much for damage possibilities, but still worried a bit, especially in areas not fully recovered/repaired.

Happy Birthday! Indeed, we miss you, come and visit!

.....and, there's more coming......Monday night into Tuesday.....we did a very minimal shopping, just to have a couple days' worth of food. Also have non-perishables. Supposed to get a new washer and dryer delivered Wednesday, hope all is powered up, and cleared.....

Thanks all! We aren't as bad off as others, it's easy to keep things in perspective. At the hotel now, after a warm and comfy night's sleep. We found my mother-in-law's place has power, and I believe our place does too now; we'll check after we leave the hotel. Cleanup and replacing food are the next tasks. But everyone is OK, that's the best thing. Wishing good thoughts for others! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Sending out good thoughts to everyone hit by this latest East Coast storm. We're without power now, going on about 36 hours and counting. Also had some larger tree limbs come down across most of our driveway and into the street. A great neighbor with battery-powered chainsaw helped at least move pieces to either side of the driveway..... Karen got us a hotel for tonight, power isn't expected back until tomorrow sometime (we hope!). We're also picking son Andrew up at school tomorrow, wishing for a warm house upon return....

One of my favorite M*A*S*H episodes was when he was coaching Radar about Classical music and other things. To this day, when I hear Bach mentioned, I raise my hand similar to the royalty wave, and say "Ah....Bach" Great actor, film, stage and voice.....RIP PS - and fuck cancer.... EDIT: was reminded that the episode I'm remembering was before CEW III joined the cast! Amazing what my mind thinks/remembers, or doesn't remember!

Just heard this on sports radio a bit ago....RIP Roger.....

^^^ "in time" ? I thinking some ways I'm already there.... -
Happy Birthday! Hope you all kept power last night, or at least got it back quickly if lost.

My wife was in Florida, she preemptively changed her flight from yesterday to later tonight....she said literally 2 seats left from FL to Boston, across 3 different airports. Then, maybe 1 hour later, her original flight was cancelled. Very lucky.... We lost power at 8:30pm last night, just got it back at about 5:15 this morning. Made the best of it with LED candles, and lots of pages in my e-book read. Going soon to the fridge to check out what's good or not, think all will be good. Hope others made it through OK!
