Happy Birthday Gene! Miss you, and hope things are well with you, your wife, and family!!

This song (remix version, I think it's called Red Line White Line Version or similar) has my all-time favorite long intro, to any song ever.....

^^ Incredible story....sometimes I wonder about our subconscious, and its way of telling us things.... And man, RIP Charles Hansen. Original tragedy was his accident and paralysis, now yet another tragedy....

I've put SSD's, even the cheaper ones I could find (Crucial, PNY & non-current-gen Kingston a few times), in about 8 different machines over the last 3+ years, and like Nate said, they've increased the useful life for 1-2 more years easily. I have then gone and sold all but 2 of them (still using one, a Xeon workstation that is equivalent to a core i7 2nd gen; and just upgraded the other - a Celeron-based micro desktop - to an SSD and loaded Win10 on it, will sell soon). As for SSD's, the various Samsung EVO lines get pretty good praise, and I've used them I think 3 times. Should be able to find some great sales now.

Some Lenovo refurbs on Tiger Direct. @n_maher (and any others?) Check out this inexpensive Dell Laptop. Similar specs to Chromebook but has Win10 and is likely a heck of a deal. Can use browser to get to whatever Google Apps needed I'd bet..... http://deals.dell.com/mpp/productdetail/qt2

Agreed on Dell, Lenovo, Asus for consumer. MSI tends to be more gaming-focused, yes? So features may be more than needed, but quality is there.... FWIW, though, I have heard a LITTLE bit of issues with some of the Dell Inspiron line. But maybe not any more than a good low % of lemons. And also agreed on where not to buy....I have not bought from NewEgg since that RAID enclosure fiasco. Even after I talked to them, and they said it was the corrected unit, they sent me the wrong thing. And then wanted to charge me to ship it back. Scumfucks.

Very Happy Birthday!

x2. Already in my expandable sweatpants, just got back from a great low-key time and fantastic meal at my brother and sister-in-law's. Hope everyone had/has a great day!

Goodbye to an icon, Arnie Nudell......RIP. I can't tell how many times I lusted after speakers with his EMIT and EMIM drivers.....still take second and third looks on Craigslist and the like if they're advertised. Paul McGowan of PS Audio said there will be a website (arnienudell.com) honoring him. Well-deserved at the very minimum....

RIP to one of my wife's girl-hood dreams. And fuck Dementia....helped take my father-in-law too......

Wow, several big names falling.....RIP to Mel & Paul. And RIP Della Reese....

A new and better wording for RIP. I hope he does not rest......

Stretch and Dusty, 99+% sure I actually saw The Railway Children live back in the day, that they did make it to the US. They opened up for another band, but for the life of me I don't remember who that was....just that I saw them, and have a vague memory of liking them.

Congrats indeed! Wishing you both all the very best!

My experience ties with Wink's, both with 280 and 380. I was lucky to grab a used pair of 280's, where the seller's dad had put on a basic Canare cable via a 3-pin XLR jack (pretty pro job, looked like the connector always belonged on the cup). More comfortable, less grating highs, and some great isolation for someone who doesn't do so well with IEM's. And then the 380 came in and sucked the royal one. Thankfully I hung on to the 280's until about 2 years ago.
