New Portable USB DAC/Amp to preview at Maryland Meet
At the meet Justin mentioned the price will potentially be $500 for the amp/dac. He's also planning to offer just the amp and that would be $300. Of course these are subject to change

July 14 MD/VA/DC/PA Area Meet at the Marriott University Center in College Park
Thanks to Stephen for organizing the meet and scoping out the great location. Admittedly I didn't listen to a whole lot but heres a brief rundown on what I did listen to: Denon D5000 - Nice phones pretty well balanced no real glaring faults that I could hear. Much better than the W5000 or the crap-o-technica as we were calling them . Balanced Beta22 - Very very nice amp, if I ever get sick of tubes I'd get one of these in a heartbeat Headphile HF-1 - These were grawk's and I was actually pleasantly surprised by these. Better than the Rs-1's in pretty much every way. Headamp protoype dac/amp - Justin has a real winner on his hands here Balanced Supra Extreme - This was a very good amp and sounded nice with the woodied ps-1's that were paired with it. The best part of the even though was finally meeting some of my fellow head-casers that I've known for quite awhile online. Oh and thanks Alex for letting me borrow the Qualia's

Post the last thing you bought!
- Anybody here heard the Edition 9?
Your being a bit too general it's a L3000 party not an AT party- Thinking about getting an L3000...
Thats why I love them, most of my music just sounds "right" with the L3000- I want more free audio catalogs
Yeah I get music direct, audio advisor, mapleshade and I think one more.- Laptop RAM, where to buy?
Also check out newegg their prices are usually very good and their service is great.- BS Amazon e-mail?
Thats why it's a good idea to check the header info on e-mails like that.- holy poo
Ok this one is my comcast cable at home. My previous post was from a 100mbit server that I run .- holy poo
- US Customs fees for receiving packages from overseas?
The only thing you might have to pay is a brokerage fee if it's a Fedex or UPS shipment. With Fedex they'll just send you a bill a couple weeks later.- Anneke leaves the Gathering
Yeah this sucks I'm a huge fan of The Gathering as well.- $10K, what should I get?
Well I think I'm the only one here thats actually done any business with GNSC and yes I think the mods they do on the Opus 21 are really good but that doesn't mean I'd take their word on anything else.- $10K, what should I get?
Bleh bad choice w/ the B-52, it's just two Raptors strapped together and I'm not a fan of the Raptor at all.- Printer
I like HP and Epson for general all around printing, but if you print a lot of photos I'd probably go with Canon. Avoid lexmark at all costs it's utter junk.- best closed headphones?
L3000 but they don't isolate a ton. If you want to make sure you block out all noise check out some of the high end IEM's.- Future of Computing??
It's actually not a touchscreen in the way your thinking about it. It uses a system of cameras (i think 9 of them) in this particular demo of the tech. Wouldn't worry too much about the monitor thing as I doubt we'll see tech like this trickle down to the consumer level for another 5-10 years at which point I'm sure there will be plenty of nice big HDTV's w/ wireless capabilities built in.- Future of Computing??
Who said anything about needing to use a keyboard or mouse with this . The whole idea of the thing is a change in the way we interface with computers. LOL I really wouldn't worry about USB by the time something like this hits the consumer level in 5-10 years everything will be wireless anyways.- So I sent in my HD580 for repair and got back a....
Kind of strange that they did that, I mean even though the 580s are discontinued I'm surprised they don't have parts around to do warranty repairs with. You could always sell the 595's and try to get a couple used pairs of 580s with the money you get. IMO the 595's are very much a sonic downgrade they are one of my least favorite phones.- Future of Computing??
http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industry/4217348.html Pretty cool stuff I could really see something like this being the direction that computing goes in the relatively near future.- $10K, what should I get?
But everyone wants to be like me- $10K, what should I get?
Yep I had the GNSC Reference Mods done to my Opus 21 and it really is an amazing player. You'd be hard pressed to beat it for less than $10K. - Anybody here heard the Edition 9?
