I'm pretty sure its the 9s, but I'll see if I can wrangle up a second pair of stats just to be sure. The squeal is low volume and high frequency. Almost like the chittering of an insect. It is only on the right side. Both sides can still play music but the squeal is there regardless of whether music is playing or not as long as the 9s are plugged in.

So I plugged in my 009s for the first time in a few weeks and there was a squeal in one of the drivers. I unplugged them right away. I'm guessing my only option here is to send them in to Yamas/Accuphase/StaxUSA or whatever else they call themselves now? I bought them back in 2011/12 when the first came out so I highly doubt they are still under warranty.

Sorry, Detroit. I'd feel bad, but I have too many memories of Verlander crushing the A's dreams year after year in the divisional round.

The Roosevelts on PBS Its Ken Burns and the Roosevelts (Teddy, Eleanor and Franklin). Its fantastic. I've really really enjoyed it. It is easily Ken Burns' best since The War. WATCH IT!!! 5/5! (even though I'm only through 5 of the 7 two hour episodes). Teddy... what a guy! Our smartest (by IQ) president ever? Its amazing how he kind of defies description by todays political terms. In some ways he is incredibly liberal. When it comes to foreign policy he is as conservative as you can get. It all adds up to one of the greatest personalities of the last 150 years. I knew he was a great guy, but after watching this I am more impressed than ever. Talk about someone who got where he was based on a pure combination of force of will and intelligence. Eleanor... its funny to watch her story and relate it to the first ladies that have been around in the 30 years since I was born. What an incredible woman. I had no idea she had suffered so much. FDR... love him or hate him, there is no denying that he was THE most important president of the 20th century. Its amazing to see how much the polio humanized him. He goes from being this golden boy for whom basically everything came easy to having this incredibly human struggle with his condition. One of the commentators mentioned that in this day and age there is no way someone like FDR could ever have become president today. I find that incredibly sad. I've loved the episodes I've seen so far. I can't recommend this enough. Great job, Ken Burns! Great job (as usual), PBS!

Depends on the boss, natch. Also, boss is a partner, I'm an associate.

If you and your partner drive an Accord and want to eventually upgrade to something a bit more luxurious and refined then I can't recommend the TLX enough (if it is within your budget!). It was a fantastic and refined ride, smooth, quiet, and it had plenty of power. You'd be amazed at how much of a step of it feels from a loaded Accord. It probably ranked 2nd of the cars I drove. That being said, one of my bosses drives a 2014 Acura TL and I just don't think I can show up at work driving a better car than him. I don't think that would go over well. I crossed any BMW off the list for the same reason. It just didn't feel like a good idea. I also thought about trying the Fusion, but there are a number of them that park in my work parking lot and I don't really love the Aston Martin-y looks of it. Size wise the WRX is slightly smaller than the 6, but still larger than the 3. I sat in the back seat of each of em and they all would be fine, I just liked the slightly bigger size of the WRX and the 6. Those Mazdas are darn fine cars. The dealer lot/showroom had only one 6 on display but about a million 3s. Goes to show which one is the better seller . We actually had to drive to their back-up lot to go try the 6 as the only other 6 was the one in the showroom! -- In the end, it seemed pretty clear to me that each manufacturer made certain trade-offs to hit the 25-30k sweet spot price point for loaded mid-size 4 door sedans. As such, each car has a slightly different flavor. I was really glad to be able to test drive them all and experience it for myself. You can only learn so much from their websites. There is no bad car in the bunch. The market at the 25-30k price point is just too competitive to tolerate anything sub-par. My preference for something sporty but still fine for the types of long highway drives that I have to do for work lead me to the Subaru. Its pretty clear they traded off some of the cabin tech and some of the other luxuries like lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, etc. that the rest of the competition has. It was a trade-off I am willing to make, but definitely we all will have different priorities.

After a long day of test driving I decided to go with the Subaru WRX! I'm super excited. It was an absolute blast to drive. You lose a lot of the tech features on some of the other cars I drove but it feels like you get a more sporty car in return. I just wish I knew how to drive manual so that I might be tempted by the STI version. That being said, I wouldn't be caught dead showing up to a meeting driving a car with a wing on it, so just going regular WRX, no STI. I also really liked the Mazda 6. IMO it was the best looking car inside and out that I drove today, but it just needs a little more ooomph. If they ever do a MazdaSpeed 6 now that would really be something. Mazda is on to something here. I sat in (but didn't drive) the Mazda 3 as well. Its a great looking car, but the 6 felt a lot less cramped on the inside. Sat in a Miata too. It felt great when the top is down. It felt really cramped with the top up. I wish I could get one as a secondary car. The Camry SE was also very impressive. I've always thought of the Camry as being boring, but it was quite a bit more sporty than the exterior would lead you to believe. The V6 had plenty of get-up-and-go and the handling was very good. The 2015 model looks like it is going to be a great buy. I looked at the Avalon as well but it didn't look like it was for me. Also drove the Acura TLX. A bit more pricey, but its a hell of a lot more than an Accord Plus. This car had the best tech of the ones I drove by a mile. In fact, it was really the only car where the tech made much sense to me. On the downside, I did not at all care for the 9 speed transmission. Yeah, it made for smooth acceleration but it killed the sporty feel. Even in sport mode. Still, probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite. Last was the Accord V6. Yeah... I've driven Accords before. The V6 is surprisingly responsive, but the car had floaty handling compared to the others. They don't seem to offer a V6 4-door model with a sporty suspension. I was wondering whether or not a TLX would be worth the price premium over the loaded Accord, but now I don't need to wonder anymore. It absolutely is if you can spring it. At the end of the day, the Subaru is for me. It has a sporty suspension without being too unforgiving, and its an absolute blast to drive around. I can't wait to go bombing around in it. Thanks everyone for all the advice! Edit: This review basically matches my impressions exactly.

I think I've finally nailed down the list of cars I'm going to try and test drive this weekend. Let me know if anything looks out of place. What I'm looking for is a 4-door sedan that is great on highway trips but still can have a little fun when the time calls for it. Living in the bay area I spend a lot of time on the highways. I thought about a 2-door, but if I buy I want something that will last me the next 6-10 years of my life... which means a spouse and possibly more at some point down the line. I wasn't originally going to look at the luxury models, but I've been driving my Mom's Lexus RX350 around while she is out of town I've started leaning more and more over to that side. Right now the list stands at this: Mazda 6 - Pretty affordable and pretty good looking. Honda Accord - Of the mid-sizes (Camry, Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata, Altima and the various American makes) this is my favorite. Acura TLX - A nicer Accord? Will have to test drive to see. Also thought about the Audi A3-A4 but I'm coming of a VW I didn't love. Subaru WRX - Could be fun, but wonder how fun on long highway trips? BMW 328d (Diesel) - This would be stretching the budget a ton, but if it really drives as nice as the reviews imply then I have to do some hard thinking about whether or not it is worth it to me. My first car was an old 3-series (1996 328i) which I LOVED. I'm still not sure if I'm going to go new or used, but I'm probably going to buy as opposed to lease.

It worked for me. Successfully downgraded.

So yeah, you other iPhone 6/6+ users out there, don't upgrade to iOS 8.01!!! All other devices seem to be fine. It bricked my cell service. Goddamn it, Apple. I thought we were better than this? I actually need to make some damn calls from the road today.

Picked this up when I was out getting lunch to do a little market research. Thanks for all the advice so far. I'm being irrational about this, but I really want to go new as opposed to used. Car Max does look awesome though. I've been browsing their inventory.

I brought my 2005 VW Passat in for a servicing yesterday only to find out its going to be basically as much $ to fix its issues as the blue book value on the car. Great.... So, now in the market for a new car. This will be the first car I buy entirely myself without any parental assistance, so I am both excited and nervous (as well as pissed off at my old VW). Can anyone point to a good online primer or primers on car buying? I have a pretty good idea of my budget, and I think I'm set on getting something new as opposed to used, as I want a car that will last me the next ten years or so. I've heard picking up a copy of the Car issue of Consumer Reports is a good idea. Some of the things I'm not so sure about include buying vs. leasing, how much of a down payment one makes on a car when buying/leasing, and test driving etiquette. I'm also unsure if I want to deal with the dealers or use a 3rd party service like Cartelligent to negotiate prices for me. Needless to say, I'm sure there is a lot more I'm going to have questions about as I go about doing my homework. I hope to have a list of 4-5 cars down by Friday so I can do some test drives this weekend.

Finally fully recovered after spending Saturday night drinking with Frank (Falkon) and friends. We tasted every single one of these and more... I ended up getting a little sick, but hey, I'm not going to let that detract from an otherwise awesome night.

I think a split option is the answer. I would be surprised if Apple didn't include it in a future update.
-
Fits just fine in my pockets. My only real annoyance with the 6+ so far? The Apple Keyboard in landscape mode. It is just awful. I have no idea why they felt the need to add all those extra keys. Ric, been using normal mode. It's nice to be able to fit a whole lot more on the home screen.
-
Wow. When I first opened the 6+ I thought I had made a mistake. After a few hours I couldn't even imagine giving it up. The size feels so right. The 5-regular feels like a toy after using it.

^ Is the voice call quality over wifi noticeably different? I've also been running the iOS 8 GM since the keynote and it seems pretty nice. The biggest improvements I've noticed so far are to Safari. The rest of the updates seem fairly minor, though the new keyboard and autocorrect options are a welcome addition. I'm on AT&T so no wifi calling for me yet.

Postjack, if you have any further interest in the subject I can't recommend the book enough. It is flat out excellent. In other news, I saw that Bill Gates and Warren Buffet claimed this book to be their favorite business book of all time so I started it. Not bad so far.

Saw Floyd Mayweather take down another chump. Seriously, he may be an awful human being but Floyd has to be the most talented fighter I've ever seen.

Went 6+ also, in gold. Thanks to this guy. Really wish they would have had their shit together at midnight, it took more than an hour of refreshing the browser and iPad app before I finally was able to check out on an iPad. I hear the website didn't even come up until well after 2AM PST.
-
So yeah, just finished it. Not bad. I liked it quite a bit better than their last two albums. I think longtime fans will be pleasantly surprised. It is solid. I usually like stuff that Danger Mouse is attached to, this one is no different. I had to go hunt around the "purchased" section of iTunes to get it to download.
-
Thx, Apple. Was going to buy it anyways.
-
Color me amazed that they were able to keep the design of this a secret all the way until the keynote.

Gotta hand it to them with the "crown" on the watch. Basically just obsoleted every single Google Gear watch right there. If it is under 300 count me in.
