RIP someone or another
RIP Flip Saunders. Everyone I've heard speak of him always mentioned what a great guy he was before they ever talked about his basketball acumen. It is very sad that he is gone. The NBA family has lost a lot of good people in the last 12 months. Fuck cancer.

Sennheiser HD 800 Redux
A very informative post on the HD800s from our old pal Arnaud. http://www.head-fi.org/t/785577/sennheiser-hd800s-unveiled/315#post_12021524 I've been on the sideline about jumping back on the HD800 bandwagon after selling my 009s, but this new pair might be enough to convince me if the price is right. The HD600/650 are just so damn good that I haven't been jealous of the HD800 sound.

Best estat amp for jazz/009
Very insightful, as usual. I was going to argue for the HD800 and SR009, but after thinking about it I agree with you.

Shure KSE1500 – Electrostatic Earphone
I guess I just don't get the portable appeal. Unless you are traveling all the time what is the point? I would think this stuff would be perfect for students, but the 3k cost would be a crap ton for them. Heck, it seems that for 3k you could probably get a used 007 and a used KGSS to run it.

Schiit Yggdrasil
I agree. Having tested two there is a difference if you leave it on but it isn't that huge.

Shure KSE1500 – Electrostatic Earphone
I spit out my drink when I saw the price. I mean, how big can the market really be for $3k potable set-ups?

If anyone in the bay area feels like borrowing mine just let me know as all it is sitting around doing nothing at present.

Burning Amp
I had a great time at BAF. The creativity of the Bay Area DIY'ers is awesome. Some pics: http://imgur.com/a/Uf5Mi Link to Nelson's presentation: https://youtu.be/wa_k0abLpAU?t=12m10s

Burning Amp
This year's burning amp is this Saturday the 17th in Redwood City. http://www.burningamp.org I'm going to try and go. It is always fun to see what the DIY community has cooking. Is there anyone else who is planning on going?

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
I hate to revive a zombie, but I finally had a chance to hear the Crack/HD600 paining. Wow! What an amazing value for the price. It looks like Bottlehead has just launched an upgraded crack: http://bottlehead.com/product/crack-a-two-a/ I'm thinking the Crack-a-two-a will be a nice little project. I ordered a kit and I'm looking forward to breaking out the iron and getting to work.

And now what did you do TODAY?
It is fleet week this week here in SF so my Dad and I went to tour the ships. In town were the USS Coronado, the USS Cape St. George and the USS Stockdale. The lines were very long, so we limited our visit to just the USS Coronado. It is the newest ship in the navy. I really wish we had more time to see the other ships. The Navy has some seriously impressive hardware. -- Shots of Coronado. The Coronado has a massive "mission bay" that allows it to load different modules and configurations for many different types of missions. The Coronado is made out of aluminum rather than steel so most of the walls are lined with flame resistant foil. The view out of the helicopter hanger, one deck up from the mission bay. Looking over at Cape St. George and Stockdale from the flight deck of Coronado. The Coronado's bridge is SERIOUSLY impressive and futuristic. Each station has triple flat screen monitors and a joystick for control. Captain's seat. Another shot of Cape St. George. And finally one more of Stockdale. -- GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

Ye Macce Threade
So I started using the External Apple Trackpad instead of a traditional mouse at work... and its awesome! Getting stuff done on a Mac is SO MUCH BETTER when you can use the trackpad gestures built in to the OS.
