  1. I ordered one of the microscopes that you recommended Jose. It says mid-April for delivery
  2. Since I don't have a laptop (other than my work one) readily available, or a computer down in my workshop, I'm wondering if something like these might work better for me? https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=600X-8-LED-USB-Portable-Digital-Microscope-4-3-LCD-Screen-Tool-Zoom&_sacat=12576&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=12576&_odkw=8-LED-USB-Portable-Digital-Microscope-4-3-LCD-Screen-Tool-Zoom
  3. Damn, I might have to get something like that. I was trying to touch up a 100 pin uProcessor and am having a hard time telling what I am doing with my Optivisor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I used KOA Speer 1/2W on everything I could. The 121R are Vishay/BC MRS25 (0.6W, 350V). I’ll either get some RN60 or Xicon 1/2W for the 174K. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Those were what was on the BOM. I’ll get some 1/2W, though I think people have built from this BOM before? Is a 350V rated part sufficient? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Happy Birthday Nate!
  7. Thanks Michael. Yes, I was going to get some heatsinks something like you used to bolt the angles to (as well as the PSU angles). And thanks for the tip awhile back about putting standoffs upside down for mounting the resistors, etc. to get them spaced off the board. Worked pretty well! They aren't perfect, but pretty good I think.
  8. A pair of Carbon boards complete other than JFETs. I used Soren's pre-adjustment method on the CCS's. They all came up at 15mA initially; adjusted them to 17mA for a start. I still need to clean the boards more. These are the .6G boards and appear to have a ground plane (haven't looked at the gerbers), so all resistors, etc. are up off the board. If any of you Stax mafia dudes see anything amiss, please let me know. I was careful building these... Also, I got some pluggable connectors, Hirose DF5A (DF5A-5P-5DSA(35), DF5A-5S-5C) which are 500Vdc rated, and would fit just fine. They have one small nub or pin on the bottom, but it looks like you could either cut it off, or drill a small hole in the PCB for it.
  9. Happy Birthday Craig! Hope you have a great one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks guys. The video was interesting, to say the least
  11. Does anyone have schematics for either the Gold (balanced?) or the unbalanced version of these? I told a person I dealt with (diyaudio user) that I thought they might be available (and told him why bother), but his interest is just in the front end section as a preamp). I saw what is available on the eservice info site, but can't remember my login there. The user says he has some incomplete schematics with pencil markings on them. I had the attached jpeg, but think this could be what he already has. Thanks for anything you can find.
  12. Kinda what I was guessing. Thanks Kevin! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Happy belated Birthday Naaman! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks Michael. Actually, I was referring to the pairs of holes for the 10M90s I believe on the Carbon boards themselves (top of pic, past the two resistors).
  15. Stupid question time, but what is the purpose of the stacked holes for the HV part mounting? Not the best pic, but best I could find.
  16. I’ve been presented with the possibility of acquiring a Pro-ject RPM 5.1. Anyone know anything about these? My current table (which I haven’t used in years) is a Thorens TD-320. Any thoughts appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Since my son is studying audio engineering, works in a studio, and has one or more interfaces, I asked him if he had heard of Metric Halo. He hadn't. I'll have to show him these.
  18. Happy Birthday Dan!
  19. Still trying to wrap my head around all of this... so these things are professional audio interfaces, and you guys are using them as your DACs in your home systems?
  20. A nearly 3 month old thread... you have your 1st post and you recommend something that was already recommended back in early December? Not a good start.
  21. Curious... I’m building a Carbon for a European user and don’t have any Stax to test it with. If I can’t find a pair I can borrow, which one of these would you buy: the Monoprice, or the Kaldas Resaech RR1s? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Happy Birthday Al! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Hehe... that is the exact reaction when I brought one of the SS Mini's into work with my Fostex's. When I plugged the headphones in and then had to plug a cable from my phone in, my boss said "Oh, no Bluetooth?". Then he listened to it and said it sounded really good. But in a sort of non-understanding way...
