  1. Matching PNP to NPN isn't easy usually, but try to get them as close as you can. And match NPN-NPN and PNP-PNP.
  2. I heard some variant of the Ether Flow at Axpona and Headamp’s display and liked them. I was not a fan of the Aeon’s, which surprised me as from the comments a reviews I had read I thought I would. I think they were open but wasn’t really paying attention... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. My other use for it would be getting analog 2ch audio out of it, both for CD/SACD as well as Bluray or DVD (concert stuff) into my 2ch stereo. Or into a DAC if I ever buy an external DAC.
  5. Happy Birthday Grahame! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Curious as well as I have a POS cheap Sony. I’ve (irrationally?) been jonesing for an Opportunity (203? 205?). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. Happy Birthday John! Hope you have a great one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I just have a calculator built into my BOM spreadsheet with a few of the voltages I normally use available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Should be fine as that would be the highest voltage seen, more or less. 40V caps? Seems like an odd value, at least for people used to Panasonics... 10. Yes, to a point. For voltages over 20V, I change R7 & R10 to 2K as it results in more easily available resistor values for R8 & R10.
  11. RIP Neil Peart... never saw him live, but seemed like a really great guy in the films/documentaries I've seen.
  12. Engineers / designers like to be lazy when they can. No need to reinvent something that works just fine, unless you see a need to prevent something from working with someone else’s gear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Someone here could probably make the cable for you. PM Justin (headamp). He may even have some if it is the same as the DPS (probably is, but need to check to make sure).
  14. ^ Probably. All you are looking for is a +/-15Vdc power supply. Not sure on connecting it. It looks like the Lite uses a 5-pin DIN power input, which I think is what headroom used as well. You would need to verify the pin out on both ends. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Seeing some problems with the forum since yesterday. The Condensed view doesn't seem to be working. Everytime I jump into a thread, I start at the beginning. Not a huge deal, but it changed all of a sudden.

    Happy New Year!

^ this! Happy New Year/decade all!
  18. Just a follow up on my SS Mini build where I used the MPSW thru-hole transistors instead of the PZTA SMD version. Listening tonight, after 1 hour or so, the chassis top measured a max of 46°C, and scanning inside with the IR gun showed a max of 66°C. I did not remove the top to scan individual devices, but placing my hand on the top ( after 1 hour and 2 hours), it seems like it runs considerably cooler than I remember the SMD versions that I built. Sounds great as well, though I think the same as the SMD version.
  19. Still on the Catherine Wheel kick (and Curve...) My son got CDs for me of: Pretty damn good. Not a fan of the close miked technique vs. their previous whole band in the studio approach (Ferment and Chrome), but very clean. I'd heard some of these on a youtube video live at the Bowery in NYC. I like the live a bit better, but not bad. My son also got me this: I like (got this from this thread I think, maybe Stretch posting a track?). Very '80s-ish with analog synth (Prophet?). And then I had to scratch an itch I've had for awhile and listen to ELP live at Isle of Wight almost 50 years ago doing Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition... pretentious as hell? Check. Enjoyable? Check. Still love listening to Greg Lake. What a voice! Still wish I had the CD of whichever album they had out which had the live Tarkus where Lake launched into the King Crimson "Epitaph". I know I have it on vinyl, but need to set my Thorens up again It's been years.
  20. So are all y'all now on the Sony bandwagon? I was thinking about getting an LG OLED in the near future after all the recs here but sounds like some of you have had problems with them? And Jeff, didn't you just buy 3 LGs when you were outfitting the new abode? And you got rid of all 3 of those? Android doesn't sound appealing, but I would prefer something reliable. Still using my 42" Panasonic plasma, which is working great (once I fixed the little PSU daughterboards, which wasn't too difficult).
  21. Usually the Stax topic is where you find the links (since Kevin retired from Northwestern University). docs: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7egryukiT7_TFlEQlBRejdVdDQ gerbers (for PCBs): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_iJFfZStuVhSE5nOHBVdTByR1k The TO-3 transistors used for that might be problematic to find. This might help: https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/solid-state/106973-krell-484081-484002-output-transistors-remplaces-codes-help.html Not sure if there is a BOM floating around anywhere for that version of the PSU. EDIT: Ahhh, right above, Rumina is using that PSU version for his KSA clone. Looks like MJ15024 and MJ15025.
  22. Happy Birthday Ric!
  23. Happy Birthday Ken!
  24. Ad Astra: pretty good but agreed not up to Gravity or Interstellar Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: enjoyed this one! Entertaining, kept my attention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. ^ probably. At 1% tolerance, a 390R could be as high as 394 and a 402R as low as 398. A better question is where are you sourcing the MPSW06/56 transistors from, since they were discontinued awhile ago. Most of these that you might find on eBay/alibaba, etc. are most likely fakes.
