So what you are saying, Steve, is that they just aren't flamboyant enough for you? Is that right?

That's not surprising. I assumed that there was a reason that you lived in the frozen wilderness.

vacuum cleaner that isn't badly designed
Naaman, I just noticed your signature. I think that your spending too much on scotch and bourbon and not enough on rye. On topic, I love my Miele. It's by far the best vacuum I've used. Bissell makes interesting products. Unfortunately they are always under-designed, under-built and so are "under-realiable". I have a Spot Bot that is fantastic when it works. It's a neat idea and product. Unfortunately I've already had one replaced under warranty. My cousin has had one replaced. When I talked to the guy at the repair facility, he said that they are very unreliable and have gotten a lot in. Bissell doesn't even try to fix them, they just send out a new one. I guess that they make enough money on the sale to still make money giving 2 or 3 during the 1-year warrant period.

Any recommendations on a solid value for a $500-600 dollar bottle of wine
Latour is always a good choice. Hopefully he bought it locally so that he can easily return it if it is corked.

Any recommendations on a solid value for a $500-600 dollar bottle of wine
I exuberantly second Jacob's suggestion. I bought two bottles of the 1982 Pichon Lalande Comtesse when I lived in France. At the time, it was rated the best of the 1982 vintage (Bordeaux). I drank one too early, but drank the second bottle in 2002 or 2003. It was perfect, the only wine that I would rank 100. If the wine is in good shape, it would make a wonderful gift. I would verify that the seller has a return policy though.

And now what did you do TODAY?
Thanks, Vicki. Stacy moved out in Jan 2010, so the pain is long since gone. I'm doing well. There has been no fighting and we remain good friends with no desire or expectation of getting back together. Ever since they diagnosed her as being bipolar, she has been doing really well. Stacy always took medication religiously and it's working well now that they have her on the correct meds. Stacy did file for divorce this Jan. I talked to her today about finishing all the paper work, but hold off filing until I find a job and so have health insurance. She agreed with no hesitation. She really is a good person.

Split household goods with Stacy. It went very smoothly. Neither of us was into our "stuff". Oh yeah, news. Stacy is moving to San Jose in 2 weeks. It will be very good for her.
