  1. Don't forget that parts often have higher power ratings to deal with failure conditions and control what exactly melts
  2. I just got the two more of the 6DJ8 quads off to Andy and Jose. For those that didn't know, I was selling matched Sylvania 6DJ8 quads, with identical construction to the ones that Kevin has successfully used. I had a batch of around 75 of these tubes and have been able to get good matches across all 8 plates. They've been tested by three people, including the irreproachable Mr. Circle Hole Cutter Tech and myself. I have two more quads available if anyone is interested, please PM me.
  3. Wimp! what do you have to loose? You could chat with Doug, but they are bifilar transformers, I sure you could cram them in somehow
  4. Yup, 9545 with the wire upgrade. The are made for IV use in current out DACs. They are 1+1:5+5.
  5. I like the ADs you have in there. I have a slight preference for the LME stuff these days. All that to say though, I think everyone should try a transformer at least once. So, I'd do that. I might be persuaded to let you borrow a set of transformers, if you'd like. I have plans for them, but it's down the lie a bit so I'd be willing to let you try and see if they work for you.
  6. 3 side cars. Meyers and all. I have to say, I prefer just cognac. I would like to try a side car with Calvados. I dont see it mentioned much here, but this particular one I have is really nice.
  7. Good advise.
  8. He does know the difference between a biscuit and those silica packs, doesn't he?
  9. Maybe it's not that real "se"? I haven't heard any talk of transformers yet or three channel amp designs! Plus, I thought it was spelled "pooftah"
  10. I get more than 10% from Apple using my HP discount...
  11. Avoid corner placement and in general right against a wall.
  12. yes, yes, yes can this be scaled down to fit in a Pico Slim chassis?
  13. actually, that's probably a pretty cool idea. I'd like one for my K1000 and iPod please. No amp required.
  14. Nice. I hope it's a good one... Otherwise they should have just left things as they are now.
  15. I'd use the devices close the the output point on the board, then space them out as much as possible along the heat sink. In otherwords, start from the middle and work your way to the edges doing every other position.
  16. The two 5K resistors that meet at the point marked FB on the original schematic. I most likely won't do that. I'm happy with the range of adjustment I have, given the heat sinks I'll be using.
  17. I have a ReadyNas Duo, which is the entry level model. Oh and I was serious about Windows Home Server. It's actually really nice.
  18. those specific connectors have anchors that fit into the PCB in those holes for added support.
  19. Numbers are meaningless, just enjoy the sweet, sweet bags. I'm sorry Nate, I'm confused myself. I looked at the numbers and the Tri Star just seemed to strike a chord with me on being just the right size with the options I wanted. I will say that the Patagonia is also a nice bag, one that might be available for you to check out first hand at an outfitter near you.
  20. The only thing I've stuck in ovens are heat sinks to do some testing. It was a rental place though and we left a few weeks after
  21. jcx: how many pieces of audio gear have you built from start to finish? I remember seeing that overclocked IC thing from many moons ago, any more recent build pics that we can look at and aspire to create?
  22. But what about all the ES headphone cables you would still have to replace!
