  1. hi all! I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to turn a wood motor pod for a project I am working on. I have a custom aluminum plate that I'd like to press fit into a simple, wood cylinder that would include a cutout for the motor itself that would run right down the middle. The outside diameter would be 120mm and the height would be just enough to accommodate my Nottingham turntable, so 4-5". If anyone is interested, I can supply detailed drawings for the top plate and we can talk price Thanks!
  2. I just salvaged $50 worth of parts using a relatively new $30 "hot solder sucker". Gotta love when tools pay for themselves. Great little tool, much better than the Rat Shack bulb desoldering iron. A few words of wisdom. Two hot tools on your bench is one too many... and the "sucker" can "blow" as well.................. when depressing the plunger.
  3. I don't know if this helps, but the Kimber standard spade fits quite nicely on the narrow-ish barrier strips that the Vandersteen speakers use. Perhaps they would fit on these amps as well?

well, if you're not there on Saturday, then you have to wait until Tuesday as they don't work on Mondays.

on a napkin, but it's the same schematic that is inside your amp.

as bad as UPS has been, I think Fed Ex Home Delivery is 1000 times worse. I will never use either again.

I have traced the circuit for this amp... uhm, I have to agree with Spritzer, it's not really mod worthy. "next please!"
  8. battery for Nottingham motor upgrade project
  9. audiogon is decent... I buy most of my stuff local, half priced books, goodwill, salvation army, craig's list, etc.
  10. right, due to the whole charging thing... but, definitely nothing on a geological scale (i.e. K701) I would say that the ESP-950 took a week or so, as my replacement drivers were brand new.
  11. I know there is an Air Tight arm with this feature, as well as the Goldmund T8. An excerpt from here: http://www.goldmund.com/products/reference/ "Motor-driven VTA adjustment with remote-control, allowing height calibration within 1/10 of a millimeter"
  12. the SR-007 has the cable soldered directly to the stators via very thin pieces of silver foil. The "connector" looking thing is simply for strain relief.
  13. wow, that really sucks... maybe I should have really layed into how crappy those Pioneer transports are... I try not to be a kill-joy when people get new toys, but these damn things suck so much I really should have made an exception. I've had good luck with www.electronix.com for replacement gears and such...
  14. I won't tell nenso
  15. actually, it sounded really really good, as the stands are definitely the weak link in the lower end models... that's why the Mye stand upgrade is so great....
  16. price range? I'd check out Michael Percy and if those are too expensive, try these: http://www.vt4c.com/shop/program/main.php?cat_id=60&group_id=2
  17. I totally agree. I'm not sure how they pull it off... Thiel, GMA, Vandersteen, Dunlavy, Meadowlark ... I bet you can guess why I think these all sound great
  18. I hung a pair of MMGs from the ceiling once via fishing line, sounded great and would be cat-proof-ish...
  19. well, I owned a Shelter 90X and wasn't all that happy with it once I heard the Zyx cartridges. How does it compare against the Bloom, I'd choose the Bloom in a heart beat. It's been quite a while since I've heard any Shelter cartridges, though. For the price, it's definitely worth a shot. I cannot say I've ever seen a Bloom for sale on the used market.
  20. I have a Whest PS.20 phono stage that needs to go on the market soon to pay off some new projects dunno if you're looking in that price range or not...... I do have a try before you buy policy for certain people
  21. man, gear at your place is somewhat like a one-night-stand... where's your sense of commitment? equipment has feelings, didn't you know?
  22. that's just crazy talk
  23. Interested in some Bakelite UX4 sockets? I have four I'd be interested in selling!
