  2. Didn't the first one have electric piano in like every song, or am I thinking of someone else?
  3. yes -- since when do you not prefer meat?
  4. Correct.
  5. Lollers at them all cheering
  6. I didn't start really feeling my age 'til around 50. I credit not having kids.
  7. Did you riot? No, seriously, Stravinsky is a genius.
  8. I like all three of those artists, so wasn't expecting anything less than to like it, and I did. Unrelated, this is classic Steven Wilson/Lasse Hoile:
  9. A diabetic gave a couple of these to me yesterday -- I felt bad taking them, but then I thought, "it's like taking biscuits from a diabetic", and laughed internally. And then thanked him. They were really good.
  10. Been listening to these on Spotify, and so far I've listened to the top 10 tracks by each band in the first row and enjoyed every one.
  11. I went and saw my favourite recent discovery band, Bent Knee, and got recognized by Courtney, Jessica, and Ben, and got to hear some great music performed unbelievably well. I

Well maybe if you weren't wrong all the time, I'd give it a go. I understood what you were saying the first time. I was saying I disagree with it.

The brain-ear system accommodates for the first part. That's the whole point in developing our hearing from infancy to adulthood. And the second part is just a contradiction. I mean think about what a soundwave is -- a localized variation in air pressure. If you recreate that localized air pressure variance just outside the ear as accurately as possible to reality, that should correspond to sounding as real as accurately as possible. I still disagree -- you have convinced me of nothing.

I disagree. The reference is real life. If you have a recording, and you know what it is supposed to sound like approximately one inch from the ears (where the drivers of most headphones are, and if that's where your mics are), reference headphones are ones that recreate that soundwave as accurately as possible. Ones that deliberately colour (ones that accentuate the presence or attenuate the sibilance regions, for example, or play up the midbass to trick bassheads into thinking there is moar base), are not reference headphones. Of course, this leads me to be very confused about the Sony MDR-V6/-7506, because I do consider them to be reference headphones in terms of bandwidth, once you mentally compensate for the colouration they introduce.
  16. Favourite imgur comment: that is horrific!
  17. Lollers @ "learn to run". Good on 'im.
  18. All the best shows get cancelled early. It's like a requirement. Max Headroom only got two seasons. The words, "too smart" should probably never have to be uttered, and yet...there it is. Goddamn, Emily Browning (Laura from American Gods) is cute. I just love that elven, exotic look of her face. (And the fact that she just spent the entire most recent episode braless didn't hurt. Spinner!)
