  1. Aye, classic stuff, that. Cheers, mate.
  2. Closer to the Heart..less, a Spotify playlist put together by Pallbearer to give an idea of the sound they were shooting for with the new album. This is pretty hilarious, because it runs the gamut from ambient to prog to AOR to metal to shoegazer to 4AD to Gong to...yeah, pretty much anything and everything. Which is not at all my experience, listening to Pallbearer. But who knows, maybe they got injected with some wild creativity...
  3. (squints) It does? Does it sound better or worse than MQA?
  4. Yeezh.
  5. It's possible my information is pre-2K. ...probable, even...
  6. Yeah, my first impression was, "critical?", but...any difference is a difference, so it's not lossless. Lossless has a very specific meaning.
  7. Yeezh. Are you punishing them, or teaching them how to deal with car mechanics?
  8. Brad Mehldau, 10 Years Solo Live
  9. Put me in the 'Brad great' camp. He's right up there with Keith Jarrett, as far as I am concerned. He only played one encore, because DC audiences, but it was a good'un -- the Beatles' "And I Love Her". But before his finale he explained that he was playing Bach, then a piece inspired by that piece by Bach, and with some improvisation mixed in. "...so this next piece will be another 'Bach/Me' pair..." (titters of laughter from the audience) I was really hoping for Exit Music, though, that would've been nice.
  10. I should be fine, he started at 8 (I was worried he'd be more like a typical rocker and take the start time as more of a "no earlier than"), which means plenty of time to get back to the car. PS I have the best seat. It's crooked because my head is crooked.
  11. Going to see Three Pieces After Bach tonight -- does he end early? I only ask because where I parked my car closes at midnight, so wonder whether I need to pull my car out before the concert, or if I can leave it there. I think I can still get out, so I'll probably just chance it.
  12. You know this already, but them's not mine. Mine are...swarthy for lack of a better term. 'Hirsute' comes to mind. Unrelated, I want this suit (the guitar's pretty cool, too):
  13. So how does this look: http://www.stompdelray.com/#menus Or this: https://www.yelp.com/biz/teds-bulletin-washington?osq=biscuits+and+gravy
  14. I would've said, "I need the exercise". Sympathies and all that.
  15. Small detour while I eat dinner: Jim Norton -- Mouthful of Shame -- not recommended while eating dinner, this guy works blue like there's no other colour in the universe.
  16. Hurray! Best wishes to anyone else with power issues -- I've been fortunate, even if my power goes out, my natural gas oven will continue to work. But it hasn't. I went out to dig out my car, only to find there wasn't shit accumulated. I had heard plowing, but couldn't see that it was necessary -- there was more pavement than slush between the cars. Oh well, I will check earlier in the morning next time, even though I listened to the (news) radio.
  17. No, I meant in my area.

  19. Yeah, sorry, I meant fresh (as opposed to canned) okra, not raw (but then prepared/cooked). I need to find a good Southern restaurant anyway -- for biscuits and gravy.
  20. So I need to try raw okra?
  21. I should hope not! It's the stuff that comes in the can labelled 'okra'. Maybe I don't know what slimey is. I would suggest: if you struggle to get it from the plate to your mouth with a fork before it slides off -- like fajita onions and peppers, buttered spaghetti -- then it's slimey -- the okra I've had is more like green beans -- maybe I should try some by itself without adding it to a recipe?
  22. Yeah, we've had this discussion before. You lost me at slimey -- I've never had that problem with okra, and it was a very complimentary texture and taste to stroganoff, and added some soluble fiber, which is always something I look to do when adulterating a recipe.
  23. Not so much watching as listening -- Dudamel's complete cycle of Beethoven's symphonies: http://www.medici.tv/#!/dudamel-palaudelamusica-beethoven1-2
