Magnetic Fields are still on my list of bands I need to see live before I die. He always puts together a great ensemble and does interesting things with arrangements. Me: I finally saw one of my favourite discoveries from Prog magazine -- The Fierce and the Dead -- in their one American appearance. So glad I went, they are crazy tight, and phenomenal live. All four of them (two guitarists, drummer, and lead bassist) are superb musicians on their chosen instrument. I got to meet all four of them and their label runner, all lovely people. I've been in heaven all day, just like after the Hiromi show. Going to have to forego Slowdive though. 's'too bad, as the album is really good.

Nice...I'm going to try and see them tomorrow night. Doubtful, though, as I am going to Gettysburg for the last day of ROSfest. So pre-gaming with the Fierce & the Dead catalog (what I own of it, anyway).

Yeah, but the same can be accomplished by running it through an external tube stage.

Not really, but am curious as to your experience. Sounds good, though.

Yeah, definitely do not waste a lot of money in that arena. I am firmly of the belief that as long as it meets minimum requirements, expensive digital cables of any variety make no sense. If you're getting errors, it's probably not due to the cable, unless you're using a really inferior cable. That doesn't mean there isn't a difference -- I am engineer, so if there's an audible difference, please report, and I am all ears if there's a reasonable explanation.

...as if we didn't know Head-fi was the home of the shills...

Indeed. Good shit, Dinny. One has to be concertedly, deliberately obtuse to a degree even Brent only aspires to, to misunderstand. -
What he's trying to say is, bigger fans are quieter. This has been my experience (from computers, not amps) as well. If that's not viable with your amp, try using much lower speeds. It doesn't take much to make a difference -- air flow vs. not air flow alone will help from keeping air trapped within your case, if the vent isn't on top. My Supra++ has a case fan. It's hardly audible.

Not the Cassini spacecraft, delivering the closest images of Saturn in history (but a cool-looking artistic interpretation). link -
You decided you liked the red one coz it's red, too?

I literally just read the words, "exploding fluffball" in Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop not less than an hour ago. Now I have an image to go along with that phrase.

Despite it being "one of the oldest videos on the internet", I had never seen its sequel. (which is an associated video) -
Can't. Yeah, I would think you'd be able to find the older version -- the Music Streamer Pro -- for even cheaper, but I just took a quick Google, and only found the one for $399. It goes up to 96/24. Trying to remember what I did with mine...I'm horrible at sending people stuff, so I probably still have it somewhere. If you can find a used one of the HD for even less than $375, then yes, that'd be the way to go, I would think.

I have one of the HRTs and use it daily, although I am getting deaf, so not sure if it's any good. I'm certainly happy with it. I also had its predecessor, although it didn't have standard TRS or XLR outputs, so I needed to get special cables made. I also have one of the Steinberg UR22MkII, with ADC and DAC made by Yamaha, I believe, but I use that for recording. The big difference with the MkII is the sample rate, I believe, so before you see the Mk1 for $75 and cheaper used and go out and buy one, you may want to look at its sample rate and make sure it is adequate for your needs.

Sure there is: http://www.hirestech.com/product/?pid=116 I'm sure there are others, especially if you look at the pro market. (It also depends how big you want to go.)
