When I was married back in the 90s, we had a house built with a heat pump, and ever since, we jokingly refer to it as a heat suck. I think the ex-wife has since made things better, but we constantly had to raise the temperature a few degrees higher than we actually wanted it, because when it was always on, the evaporative effect had to fight with the heat pump to keep one comfortable. But it was the primary source of heat, so hopefully it will work better for you as a supplement. And hopefully the technology has come a little way since then.
  3. I Puddles. him to death. That end makes me giggle. I need that in animated gif form.
  4. Gas, Narkopop -- pure bliss Bandcamp link
  5. Lollers, nothing compares to the last season of Dollhouse.
  6. Just watched the pilot. I am smitten. This is fantastic. The story, the layers of reality, the art direction, the music (especially the use of covers, but even the not covers), Syd Barrett (!) as a crazy person...and then, out of nowhere, a dance number. Starting on the second episode, I love the Jean Smart character, and ... Bill Irwin! I love Bill Irwin.
  7. Seems like a lateral move. And yeah, I wouldn't assume nuthin' about being able to drive a 2560x1600 monitor. What monitor? When I got my first powerful monitor about 10 years ago, I did have to get a special video card to drive it (Dual DVI or sumpin'). EDIT: It actually says right on the page: But it does say it has an HDMI connection -- which, if older, single-link, can only do 1920x1200, which is still more than they're saying -- the 1.4 spec should be a lot more than that, plenty to handle 2560x1600 -- just not how current it is. So look for "hdmi 1.4". Or the equivalent DVI connection. Assuming your monitor has both. If not, whichever one your monitor has. But boy howdy, it shore is blue.
  8. So that is where I got that from. I use, "I'm very happy for you" in lieu of...whatever it was she was obviously thinking of saying.
  9. Anne Bishop, Murder of Crows -- dark fantasy -- fun
  10. Listening now -- I fell asleep almost immediately after checking in last night at self
  11. Bats eat mosquitoes -- hence, bats are cool. In my book. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
  12. I'm picturing beige and burgundy curtains. Please tell me you don't have any mauve accents. Aye keed, aye keed...
  13. You may want to peruse this thread, there are some resources mentioned sporatically. Not on the original question, but on brickwalling in general. Mostly, by googling "loudness wars", but I'd try asking over on the steve hoffman forum, they might actually have an answer.

  15. Indeed! I am excite. (I still need to watch season 2.) Me: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Hydra -- I'm loving this alternate universe shit. "No Regrets" (S04E18) might be my favourite episode yet. I mean, other than Patton Oswalt playing 5 or 6 (I keep losing count) identical n-plets.
  16. That might be my favourite sequence in all of Aardman Animations. Ending with the classic, (thup), one of the most hilarious sound effects ever.
  17. Oh, I see what you're doing, you're being a pedant. Well, I stand corrected, the question should have been, "can you share what you did, please?" It's funny when other people do to us what we do to others, we don't recognize it for what it is.
  18. That's a recipe. (My favourite kind of recipe, concise.)
  19. Yum! Looks perfect! What recipe do you use? I'm still trying to get the balance of the liquids and the sugar right. (Also, I cheat and use chili oil...haven't found a favourite yet, I have like half a dozen different bottles.)
  20. Oh, okay, that makes sense. I think I even remember that being mentioned before. I was thinking more "won" than "earned", but it says, "swag", so...yes, yes it does.
  21. I don't know what a bai is -- something annual increase?
