  1. Yes. And yes. Companies pride themselves on the software they use to do all the digital filtering (which is what the conversion is, essentially), dCS in particular. One of the guys from Wadia used to post a lot on head-fi. We had many a discussion on upsampling (which is another form of processing done before the actual D-to-A conversion). But yeah, all the work in the world can be undermined by a mediocre analog output stage.
  2. Isn't Zombie Dust technically people?
  3. I have to admit, some of the most comfortable I've ever been is sleeping on the floor with not much more between me and it than an exercise mat. Of course, it was embarrassing that the guy who ran the fitness center had to wake me up.

On goldbox: Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPod & iPhone, $14.99. For roughly the next three hours.
  7. Nice! Colin -- I thought you had a bed? And if you didn't, what was that that you were sleeping on that looked very much like a bed? And please don't say, "a mattress on top of a bunch of stuff", because I would be very disappointed with my observational skills if it was just that.
  8. Actually, that was a reference to some company you may or may not have been having that night. Probably should have added, "(wiggles eyebrows)". And: I hate you. If I forget to take 5-HTP, it'll take me several hours to fall asleep. I'm glad I discovered 5-HTP, but I hate being dependent on it. And: You really didn't bother me. Really honestly truly.

  15. Happy Birthday, Colin! I think I may have just found the motivation to switch you from Mountain Dew:
  16. Well it obviously won't fit the other one.
  17. (drums fingers, waits for Steve or Fitz to make some sort of "which head, penis or the other one?" comment)
  18. Ron Jarzombek, Solitarily Speaking of Theoretical Confinement -- that's some technical metal right there. Ridiculous number of tracks, though. Found while googling "(odd OR unusual OR unorthodox) time-signatures", lulz. Sort of in the same vein as Zero Hour.
  19. The Eternal, Under a New Sun -- "goth prog"...not proggy enough for me. Needs more unusual time signatures. Or something. EDIT: That said, there are several tracks on here that I am really enjoying -- old school -- "Collapse", "Despondency" are two of them.
  20. Poor Huey, never gets a break.
  21. Seefeel -- 15 years later, and they pick up where they left off, more or less. Bliss. You think they could have come up with a name for an album in that time, but noooo...
  22. Happy Birthday, Steve!
