No, as long as you qualify it that way. But the thing is, a better designed headphone will always sound better than one that wasn't as well designed, closed, open, vented, reflex, transmission line or otherwise.

Huh? No. Headphones work entirely differently than speakers. There is no "breathing". There is only moving back and forth very very slowly, but very close to your ear. Also, most headphones work with single-driver technology, I wouldn't get too distracted by multiple drivers. Those are the exception, not the rule. But yes, you should just get JH13's or JH16's and be done with it.

Yes, it's the DAC-2 that's covered in this month's Absolute Sound. And yes, I read it the same way -- that at its core, it's a reclocking scheme, but: So I guess the point is arguable. Technically, this is arguable, since the argument is controlled by the arguer, not the second party. But this is not the same argument methodology used by debaters, which focuses on achieving an agreement between the two parties.

So the Absolute Sound reviewed this in its current issue, and I gleaned a rather interesting piece of information from it (!) -- the asynchronousness isn't really asynchronous, it is -- at the same time -- both better and worse. What they do is figure out where the leading and tailing edge of the (digital!) signal is, then sample it "in the middle", then reclock what they get. (Oversimplification, but I hope it's understandable. And by "signal", I mean the peak associated with a single bit of information.) They've obviously done a lot of research into exactly what kind of problems they're going to get on the input, and tried to come up with a solution that solves most if not all of them. Even better: does not need a proprietary driver on the computer or transport side. I have to say -- my interest is now beyond "piqued" and well into "intrigued". Oh, also: volume control. And they did confirm that the modular design was intended to future proof it.

I suspect fictitious people will be next like The Russell Hammond ("incendiary") and The Derek Smalls ("basically, it's a Mint wrapped in tin foil and then painted black").

An isolation booth will provide plenty of isolation, and then you can wear whichever headphones you damn well please. Only don't forget to come out once in a while, your kids miss you.

Yeah, these look like they're facing outwards from the vehicle. And yes, I realize deep bass is non-directional, but...aren't drivers designed for better dispersion etc. from the front -- they're not designed to have the optimal response from the backwave. Also, they look wrong. So that's just out. They look like those passive baffles or whatever it is that Wilson-Benesch do.

Amplifier, The Octopus -- contemporary prog -- bombastic (in the Beatles/Flaming Lips way, not in the Mahler way), a little all-over-the-place...I like!

And perhaps have the drivers FACING THE RIGHT WAY!
