  1. an Android Phantom Swiss 5 watch...for my mother. Can't believe I didn't think of this when I posted my query in the watches thread, I actually have one. It'll be perfect -- it's extremely thin and light, yet durable, with a large, easily legible face.
  2. So my mom mentioned that she keeps breaking her watches, but I happen to know that most of her watches are on the cheap side. I know something like the Nixon 51-30 would be sufficiently indestructible for her, but probably way too heavy. Anyone know of a high quality, large faced, yet lightweight, analog watch? Doesn't have to be "Dusty-approved low-contrast", in fact quite the opposite, traditional black on white would be good. Also doesn't have to be a "lady's" watch. I'm thinking ceramic, but that's getting outside of what I can afford (she won't want me to have spent too much on her, she threw a cow when I got her a $100 Philips microstereo).
  3. Pineapple Thief, 3000 Days -- dreamy proggy pop.
  4. (thinks about tracking down that Tom Jones food scene and posting it, decides against it)
  5. Did they have similar warranties? "Planned obsolescence".
  6. The bread -- I'm sure the hospital would have a fax machine.
  7. New owners of former Brickskeller need new name They were going to name it Rock Creek, but there is already a restaurant with that name. I know I'm putting my thinking cap on. I don't think they'll fall for "Beer-copalypse" or "Mecca". EDIT: Terminus ad Zytha? Someone know Latin?
  8. Barbara Morgenstern, BM -- little more grown up than the pure techno teutonicity of yore. Even better.
  9. That DMS-59 connector must be what we have around the office.
  10. I was perfectly happy with the amount of engine noise that leaked through my ER-6i's (I.E. very little), the one or two times I used them way back when (tri-flange tips). Thanks for the reassurance, I'll stick with them for travel. Speaking of the PXC 250 II's, they're going on sale at goldbox at 6 a.m. PST until 10 or when they sell out, whichever comes first.
  11. Sorry to hear about the trip to the booze store, Jacob, hope that was before, not after. Seriously: condolences, Steve. Don't know what else to say, so I'll leave it at that.
  12. Best dust cone evar?
  13. I wish I was in World Of Beer. Oh, wait, I am, just...lower case.
  14. Yes, do. You can actually subsidize the one with the other. I can think of worse "final" setups to have.
  15. ...? Everyone needs an Einsturzende Neubauten tattoo. Me: nothing much, just a garlic noodle soup from Trader Joe's, and technically, it was a gift, so I didn't even "buy" it.
  16. So how do they all compare to just plain simple isolating IEM's, such as Etymotics or JH Audios and/or custom earmolds? Anyone able to do some comparisons?
  17. Exactly. Sourdough is win. You are win. I am full of .
  18. Yes, definitely try it. It's like the old "analog vs. digital" cable debates.
  19. Yeah, that's not right.
  20. Finished Nymphos...; started Tales of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong. Already several stories in. Dig!
  21. I thought it was a better movie than it thought it was, but I'm like that.
  22. There's probably a bunch of 'em you can still get "NOS" -- Denon, Onkyo, etc. I seem to remember there was one that was an (otherwise) universal player, but if it's just CD's you're worried about, I've been so happy with my old SCD-CE595, that I bought a spare. Not built like a tank, but lasted surprisingly long.
  23. -- you know, you're developing a reputation for saying nasty things about women in music, you do see that, right?
  24. The verdict is that the jury is still...oh fuck, the defendant just got away. Please call the Alliance immediately.
