  1. I wish I was in World Of Beer. Oh, wait, I am, just...lower case.
  2. Yes, do. You can actually subsidize the one with the other. I can think of worse "final" setups to have.
  3. ...? Everyone needs an Einsturzende Neubauten tattoo. Me: nothing much, just a garlic noodle soup from Trader Joe's, and technically, it was a gift, so I didn't even "buy" it.
  4. So how do they all compare to just plain simple isolating IEM's, such as Etymotics or JH Audios and/or custom earmolds? Anyone able to do some comparisons?
  5. Exactly. Sourdough is win. You are win. I am full of .
  6. Yeah, that's not right.
  7. Finished Nymphos...; started Tales of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong. Already several stories in. Dig!
  8. I thought it was a better movie than it thought it was, but I'm like that.
  9. There's probably a bunch of 'em you can still get "NOS" -- Denon, Onkyo, etc. I seem to remember there was one that was an (otherwise) universal player, but if it's just CD's you're worried about, I've been so happy with my old SCD-CE595, that I bought a spare. Not built like a tank, but lasted surprisingly long.
  10. -- you know, you're developing a reputation for saying nasty things about women in music, you do see that, right?
  11. The verdict is that the jury is still...oh fuck, the defendant just got away. Please call the Alliance immediately.
  12. Ah, missed that. Still, it's kind of vague, I probably subconsciously read it as "...I could use either one..."...everyone else is assuming it is a requirement, so I'll assume it is, too. I THINK that it depends on the driver that was written for the card. I see that splitters exist, but it still means that the driver needs to be written such that the correct information is fed to the port for both monitors separately. Still, it'd probably be easiest just to make sure it has two ports, every single computer that I've ever used that had ports could control them separately, be they on the same card or not (or as is standard around my office, has a proprietary port and a breakout cable).
  13. Have you tried biofeedback? (Oversimplification: you concentrate on warming up your hands with what is effectively psychosomatism using a special kind of thermometer.) My mom had migraines for as long as I've known her. Recently, she eliminated everything from her diet that she had sensitivities to (which, for reasons I will not go into here, is quite a bit, but that's largely because she's also had stomache problems for as long as I've known her), but that's pretty drastic. She's had the most luck with the diet changes, but she had the second most amount of luck with biofeedback. It's worth a shot. You don't have to get the $50 thermometer, they have a ... $10 or $20 one that is actually better in some ways.
  14. I believe "mod-o'-the-mo'" is the correct contraction. And I believe you were in Chicago drinking someone else's cognac.
  15. Where did the requirement to run two monitors come from? The earliest post I can find mentioning it is Nate's.
  16. One down, 19 to go.
  17. Darts == throwing knives adjusted for the weight difference as well? There's also a joke in there about a really small shovel, too, but I'll leave that one alone.
  18. It's true. Fuck! There.
  19. So fucking good, can't get past this track: Also, I pretty much fell in with her at 0:30:
  20. Uh...not necessarily, Hosa usually err on the cheap side. Though, yeah, I don't really think it matters. I seem to remember some items on one of the audiocubes sites (Audio Technica? Yamaha? Denon? don't remember), though, if you want to go all exotic. I'm fond of M-Audio. I have their Transit (or whatever its precursor was).
  21. Nope, completely unnecessary. You only need monitors if you're doing live sound or recording, not with electric drums. Get any old thing. Etymotics, perhaps. ER-4...p? s? n? ...ER-4something.
  22. Barbara Morgenstern, Fan No. 2 -- moar teutonic-ness. Teutonicity. Medigs. She manages to have that bubbling grooviness that Kraftwerk managed on even their least groovy tracks. (And I Kraftwerk, so that is no mean feat.)
  23. There just isn't the room to put a full DVI connector on a laptop. Think of DVI as the larger USB connectors, and HDMI as the smaller USB connectors -- it really is just a matter of a cable. So once you put HDMI back into the picture, that opens up your choices enormously, dunnit?
