  1. ^ I was trying to remember that name the other day -- thanks! EDIT: Also: Leviathan. Pic didn't show up. Which is ironic, as "" was the name I thought you were suggesting, which wasn't too far off, ackshully. (To others -- it was "the Phantom Menace" movie poster.)
  2. I was only criticizing your use of the word, "minor" -- it wouldn't be "minor" to me.
  3. Yeah, sorry, forgot that my friend (Dave) deals with poster and larger -sized prints, professional quality. So his requirements are going to be different than others'. So just to clarify -- dave1 was the friend to whom I was referring earlier. I asked him to just post in here -- thanks Dave!
  4. Interesting, never heard of it -- big fan of both Holly Cole and Jane Siberry, will have to check it out... (wanders off to check the tracklist, hope it's not too conventional -- Dusty hates Christmas carols)
  5. It's not that minor -- comfort is a major issue with heaphones.
  6. On deck for tomorrow's car ride in to work: new Swallow the Sun.
  7. I believe that's technically called, "refusing". :rimshot:
  8. Dudes, it's not the end of the world...alright, it looks like it, but it's not. That would be Antarctica. Say hello to Charlize Theron for me. (mee-yow!)
  9. 6-pack of Anchor Seasonal Brew (yes yes, I know, go ahead and call me on it -- I don't drink often -- I still have my 2008 & 2007)
  10. Not to get too nitpicky, but that wouldn't fix the problem, would it? That only covers it if they don't discount some macs. The problem is that the expectation is not "up to", even though the verbage says that; most consumers would read that as "around but less than or equal to 25% off". Maybe the consumers would get a better idea of the range -- all hypothetically speaking, of course; we'll find out when the actual flyer comes in -- if they said "from 5 to 25% off", that would lower more peoples' expectations appropriately, don't you think? I recently got an ad from dogfunk.com (Nixon watch reseller) that said "up to 60% off" -- guess what? All the "all black" and the like watches that I like? 0% off. Do I have a case with them as well?
  11. ModWright must like 5687's -- I think my ModWright -modded Pioneer takes 5687's. From a quick google, there's also a lot of DIY projects that take 5687's. I mean, there's no argument that he has a lot of crap. But considering the sheer scale of the operation, I suspect there's still some gems in there, too. KG, you seem to be fixated on power tubes -- there are other tubes out there, y'know. Not that it matters -- I don't think anyone would want to deal with him at this point. Is he really still selling on eBay? oyVay.
  12. I'm with VPI -- this is probably belt drive's biggest strength, IMHO. Or you could just get multiple turntables and a skipjack.
  13. "input", singular; otherwise, yes.
  14. Are you going to show her your 'powerpoint'? ...just doesn't have the same ring to it as "key lime pie".
  15. Based on generalizations only: most DSL's go through whoever does your phone, which is probably AT&T. So service consists of you contacting Earthlink, Earthlink contacting AT&T, and AT&T jerking you around indirectly rather than directly.
  16. Mendelssohn, Italian & Reformation Symphonies, RCALSSACD
  17. They left out "Obvious", but I'm sure there's a joke about it in there somewhere.
  18. Yeah, but you never know what computer you're going to get.
  19. Yo, Elephas, I'm really happy for you. I'm going to let you enjoy your system. But the WES has one of the best electrostatic amps of all time, one of the best electrostatic amps of all time.
  20. Except that...isn't it a scientific fact that wine changes (continues to ferment, begins to go bad, evaporates, etc.) over time (in ways that audio equipment does not)? Very good article, BTW, and I do see a lot of analogies between the wine and audio equipment worlds.
  21. sampled Bear in Heaven -- definitely going to have to investigate that further, liking what I'm hearing so far Respighi, Foutains/Pines of Rome; Debussy, La Mer, RCALMFSSACD
  22. Damn, there's some good vinyl being reissued these days. Good times to be a classic rocker.
  23. So Bobby has taken to taking the mail (we actually live in a house so old that it has a mail slot) and moving it into an entirely different room, and my housemate told me to remind him that it's a federal offense. She's had several kittens grow up in the house, and never have any of them tampered with the mail. Even the worst one (Red), who was a terror, knew better than to commit a misdemeanor. To his defense, he hasn't opened it.
  24. Australia FTW! "...D.S. al Coda..."
