  1. First of all, hurray! But what I meant was, I didn't think you believed in high-end caps such as BlackGates and wax and oil and stuff, not that you didn't believe in building stuff for yourself.
  2. linky I was just in Philadelphia, and thoroughly enjoyed the Eastern State Penitentiary (famous for being one of the first real jails designed to instill penitence), but I don't know if it's worth taking 5 hours out of your day to do. I'd avoid Centralia.
  3. PS Some really delicious tone on that bass. Anneke van Giersbergen & Danny Cavanagh, In Parallel -- acoustic live set, lotta covers (Fleetwood Mac, Dolly Parton, really?)
  4. (a) I kind of hate people who make it look so easy; ( They kind of rock; © Who is she reminding me of, vocally? Specifically that semi-high note that she hits about 0:15-0:16? And then again when she's harmonizing with herself ~0:40-0:46? (d) She is easy on the eyes, isn't she? (e) What headphones are they using?
  5. Now you tell me. I deliberately bought synthetic, too.

My co-worker is so funny. He broke his middle finger. So he's showing everyone The Finger, and telling people that because of it, he can't drive.
  7. I was thinking from the candles and THE FIREPLACE.
  8. It just seems a waste of some mad skills for something that's just going to melt.
  9. And this is for yourself? I thought you didn't believe in that stuff, or is that only silver cable?
  10. Nearly died -- on top of giving myself food poisoning (I think -- by eating way too old mustard on a samich), I inhaled a pill (rather than swallowing it -- I.E. I tried to ingest it through my lungs). 2 minutes of scary coughing in the middle of a parking lot, alone, it came up. Fortunately, the gel cap outer shell hadn't broken yet, because then I would have been inhaling powder, which would have been an order of magnitude more nasty. All is fine now, but throat is raw. I'm going to be coughing all day.
  11. That's some seriously nice interior decorating for an igloo.
  12. Actually, my box was empty. I suspect it was something later, like 498 or 499, though -- I was definitely in the last batch, so somewhere in there.
  13. Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells, the 2009 remaster -- BLISS!
  14. Ditto on the Neil Finn/7 Worlds Collide -- thanks for mentioning it. Been listening to a lot of Voivod in the car, forgot how much I loved (most of) their stuff.
  15. Indeed. Uh...where is it supposed to be autographed? I have mine autographed on the COA, but was expecting it on the actual album cover somewhere. Not that it matters, just curious.

In my defense, I was "making fun", not "complaining". Yes, windy city is windy. And snowy and cold. But I also have many fond memories of the area (mostly Evanston).

Whatever happened to OLED technology, wasn't that supposed to take over LCD's? PS Both, really cool.
  18. Stokowski Rhapsodies RCA Living Stereo SACD
  19. Namlook & Move D - Traveling the Silk Route -- electro-ambient
  20. Not so much bought as finally received -- my Mike Oldfield super supreme extra speciale dition Tubular Bells box set -- gorgeous packaging.

And you had to walk to school! Back before I got married, my ex and I went to Illinois to meet some relatives (some of hers, some of mine). Took her to the Sears Tower, because she had never been. The visibility that day? Zero. We went up anyway. It was really a couple feet, but all you could see was an endless morass of swirling snow in every direction. Kind of eery, when you thought about the fact that it really did keep going, just like it looked like it did. But just like the optical illusion -- is the girl twirling clockwise or counterclockwise -- we could just as easily have been in a box in a box, like a huge knick-knack.
  22. The 840? Not the 240 or the 440? Zzounds has it for $199.99, and they're usually a pretty good indicator of the price to beat.

That's some nice detail. And $25 is an amazing price for that level of detail, but...you sure you want to be working with fiberglass? You might want to talk to them about making a custom one with holes in the ears, or ask them if they already have one.
