Ah. Yeah, it had some seriously disturbing imagery. That's too bad. Don't see Coraline. Nowhere near the same order of magnitude (I believe it's rated G, if not PG), but there are some pretty memorably disturbing images in that one, too. ("Disney horrific" is what I'd call it.)

Depeche Mode, Sounds Of The Universe -- meh. No song distractingly bad, but no song attention-gettingly good, neither. (Dave and Martin are in a room together, alone. They have just received a recording from their stable of musicians which is intended to be the backing tracks to what will eventually become "Wrong". One of them starts playback.) Dave (smirks, singing loudly against the quiet): Wrong! (the groovier music starts) Dave (speaking under his voice): Oh, this is alright. (singing): I was in the wrong place...at the wrong time...with the wrong girl... Martin (smirks) Martin (stops smiling): No, no, wait, stop it, start it over, I got it. (One of them does so. Martin scribbles furiously, hands paper to Dave.) Dave (singing): I was born under a wrong sign ...in the wrong house... (Martin continues writing while Dave is singing, only slightly ahead of him.) Dave (singing): ...with the wrong ascendancy... (Andy walks in, listens for a bit, serious. Dave and Martin continue with this "one-joke" lyric bit.) Andy: Hey, that's pretty good.

What was wrong with Pan's Labyrinth? I thought it was brilliant! My favorite movie of that year! Oh, well. :\ And interestingly enough, I just saw the trailer for Moon as well -- looks creepy, that's a must-see. And soon, too -- June.

Dollhouse was semi-good this week. "I'm pointing to the sky!" -- particularly enjoyable line. Some nice acting on DeWitt's part.

I don't know, dude takes a header. I went googling for "springboard blooper", and found: I mean, he's just got too much of an arc -- it's out of control. A little less and he would have landed belly flop, but as it is, he tilts just a little too forward, so it's a face-first-plant. You really think they would stage something like that at the olympics? Unless by "staged" you mean, the KGB/Russian mafia/whatever "staged" an "accident" because he "owed them money".

I can watch that first one repeatedly. "Judges?" "I think I'll let that one fly." :rimshot: If you squint your eyes, it kind of looks like a shovel.

I'm going to steal this for a music project. It'll probably be a working title of an instrumental or something.

Definitely audition anything by them before you buy -- they are all over the place from full-on Japanese-style noise to Wax Trax style guitar/industrial crossover to some beautiful gothic stuff. Others of my favorites are: Can You Smell the Rain Between? Gilded Shadows Golgotha Songs from the Ashes Songs from the Drain Songs from the Vault -- I might have one of these confused. Dub Songs from a Shallow Grave Our Journey's End Stuff like Bladder Bags and Interludes and Knees and Bones you can save for last. I haven't picked up Before the Quiet yet -- as a matter of fact, I just got my monthly allotment, perhaps I'll get it this iteration.

I'm a huge Controlled Bleeding fan. I even like their basement recordings (recorded quite literally in a basement, someone interrupts, says, "What is this crap? I'm trying to study..." etc.). But The Poisoner is one of my more favorites. Me: nada.
