  1. When jude encourages it, what do you expect? But seriously, portable amps today are better than anything available just a couple years ago. It's not surprising people are thrilled with the performance of their portable setup.
  2. I'm up for weds, fri and saturday...
  3. So who's up for dc bar meet weds at dogfish in gaithersburg?
  4. No, go ahead and derail the thread, it's fine. This isn't that other place, we're not nazis.
  5. Thanks for the pointer, I sent him an offer... I love the RS1s. They'd also never be my only cans, but aside from the PS3000s, which I couldn't justify keeping, I haven't heard any phones that could be. The VTGs come closest.

John raped your sister? Or he turned 18 and you no longer owe child support?
  7. Yes reks, but would you rather have a headroom micro dac + a $300 amp, or an airport express + a $700 amp?
  8. You stream music to it via wifi or ethernet. You listen via analog out. It's comparable to any $300 dac.
  9. Just don't mention the transformers or 909 will flip out here too...
  10. There is some software that will let you stream anything to it, but it works mainly with itunes, and with itunes is bit perfect. And nothing about itunes or the airport express stops you from playing any mp3, aac, alac, wav, etc file. The drm is only on songs you buy from apple.
  11. If you're going separate dac and amp, you're throwing money away if you buy a $300 dac. Spend $700 on your amp, and get an airport express as your way to get the music off your computer.
  12. Aqvox isn't an all in one solution. It's a dac, with a shitty headphone amp if you're using usb. I'd say the M3 is a good choice from that list , and if you're considering the hornet, you should also consider amps like the supermicro and the pint, etc.
  13. He uses a sling blade. Some people call it a kaiser blade, mm hmmm.
  14. Look at it this way. The ipod may not be the best source hooked up, or the source most frequently used, but it sure would be handy to just walk up and drop the pod on, if say you have friends over who want you to hear something, or you're having a party, or whatnot. The dock is about convenience, and the output from it isn't bad, even if it isn't up to the level of a multi thousand dollar outboard dac.
  15. The kind of idiot who owns an ipod and a manley, I'd bet.
  16. That has nothing to do with quality and everything to do with increasing market penetration. Throw an ipod dock on your device, and suddenly millions of people become a potential customer. And if you can get listed in apple's store...
  17. Why are you asking almost exactly the same question in another thread?
  18. cheap external drive.
  19. If you can find em, try out the W11JPN and W10VTG. They're the only 2 at's I've heard, but they're apparently different from the rest of the ATs. I find them very musical and enjoyable. Enough so that I sold my PS3000s and HP1s to stick with hhf1 and w10vtg.
  20. I use UM2s straight out of my 5g ipod and my shuffle, and don't miss the amp at all...just saying.
  21. An ipod is a good choice, and works reasonably well with ER4P. If that's your primarly listening environment, I wouldn't worry about an amp. If you plan on listening in other locations too, contact mexican dragon about his SuperMacro v1. It was built with the ER4P in mind, and I'm sure he could be talked into selling it fairly cheaply.
