With shipping it was right around $100. It is the MAC edition and I wanted something with at least a minimal integrated track pad. Now all I have to do is buy the MAC Mini to use it with.

^^^ This over a time period of months is generally what I find necessary to be able to judge how a new piece of gear fits into the system.

Concerning the xcans my comments are for when it is driving the harder-to-drive headphones which is where a properly damped LCD-1 falls. Subjectively, my LCD-1 is harder to drive after I added some additional damping in the cups. Also, my listening impressions on the newest version are pretty limited but nothing I heard leads me to believe its performance has changed to any great degree. I will be happy if I'm shown to be wrong in this regard as I have always liked the tonality of the xcans.

The xcan (all versions) is a pretty mediocre headphone amp. It does OK but in many cases it cannot give that full amplification across the frequency spectrum that the good amps deliver.

^^ Yep what he said. I was having all kind of freezes and drop outs using the wireless built into my DSL modem/router. Replaced that about a year ago and the wireless has been superb.
