  1. Don't send that money yet. Wait until Monday. It's Deja vu all over again.
  2. I would strongly suggest (from personal experience) that you send no money until you have evidence that not only FedEx has it, but that it has left its original location.
  3. Ooooo, nice. I'll be interested in your real-world experience. I'm also on Verizon and currently also have a Moto Q so I am intrigued.
  4. You don't get it. Your list is an epic fail, even for its proposed purpose, because your comparisons are not valid. Any comparison between phones that doesn't control for recording, source and amp IS SERIOUSLY COMPROMISED OR COMPLETELY INVALID. I doubt that your comparisons were done side by side so you are also relying on your audio memory. That is why judging pieces of kit is a long-term process and not necessarily easy (or cheap). Lastly, even if you control all the other variables, there is no guarantee that the list would be unchanged if you then changed recording, source, or amplifier. I'm sorry, but the world is just not as simple as you would like it.
  5. I guess we all have our preferences. Since much of my music lives in the midrange, I need a phone that gets it right. The HD650 doesn't do as good a job for me as some of my other phones (K340, MS-Pro, hell even the recabled K701) so it doesn't get as much play time. So when I get to listen to the HD800, I will be listening in the midrange.
  6. I have no idea, but hope springs eternal. In reality, I doubt that it will have the speed of a good electrostat, but if it can meld the best qualities of an electrostat and dynamic, then I'm in. Like you, it will require my hearing it first. Time to check on airline tickets to LA
  7. Happy birthday Luis ...
  8. Ryan: I think you nailed the weakness of the 650 dead on. I too find its major weakness to be an uninvolving midrange. If the HD800 has anywhere near the speed and clarity of the HE60 with the OII's midrange, then I can see one in my future. If it also has the OII's bass control and depth (when properly amplified) then it's a no brainer for me.
  9. I'm done. Please return to Head-Fi, Do not pass go, Do not collect any knowledge.
  10. Fine, but if you are going to make definitive sounding posts about cans at least compare them in the same system, and over a reasonable time period. This isn't Head-Fi.
  11. I wouldn't say you've reached the pinnacle of amplifier goodness. Plus I agree with Nates comments, especially since you give the RS-1 a fail but the MS-Pro an epic fail. WTF?
  12. Samsung 19" Widescreen Monitor WD Elements 1TB External Drive Has a very Headroomesque aesthetic
  13. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - D
  14. Well I just bought a refurb ATV. It looks like it will work with the patchstick hacks. Significantly fewer bucks compared to the mini or studio hybrid. Dan's The Man
  15. Well there are more and more rumblings all around about not using University equipment (computers) for non-University functions (music listening). So I plan to head off the whole issue by setting up another computer (personally purchased) to serve the music to my work rig (output to Apogee Mini-DAC). The question for you is should I buy a Mac Mini or a Dell Studio Hybrid? and more importantly, why? The unit needs to be small, OS is irrelevant, I'll use itunes on the Mini or J. River Media Center on the Studio, the library will be on an external drive (most likely directly connected), I have my library in both FLAC and ALAC, it will be for playback only, it doesn't have to do anything else. Right now I am undecided as each has its benefits and price is roughly the same for comparable models. I think I have a pretty good handle on the strengths and weaknesses of each, but I'm sure I'm missing some.
  16. I don't know about the K 702 but the K 701 benefits from a dual entry recable as well as moar power. The GSX/recabled K 701 make a good combo. Not as nice a midrange compared to the K340 but better treble clarity and bass control (both balanced).
  17. Levon Helm - Dirt Farmer Dean Martin - Dino! Italian Love Songs
  18. North Mississippi Allstars - Hernando Bat for Lashes - Fur and Gold
  19. I would also be careful about sending the money too quickly once you get the tracking info. Mikhail played fast and loose with tracking info a couple of times before he actually shipped my ES-1.
  20. Neil Diamond - Home Before Dark Surprisingly good.
