  1. Perhaps you want to note that HERE We are very proud of the growing list of non-attendees
  2. If I did not care about balanced then I would go with the Zana, especially with the 880's and 701's. The 650 IMO is a toss up as to which one I prefer. If on the other hand I wanted balanced then I might have to change my opinion. No one AFAIK has heard the balancing act, but there are plenty of balanced betas softly caressing the ears of their owners.
  3. Excellent. I love my switcheasy case. I never even think about it or notice it. That is exactly what i want in a case. In transit:
  4. What phones are you planning to use?
  5. I'm not sure I would say firewire is on its way out for Mac's as they appear to be using it for product differention purposes between their lines, and then primarily their laptops. AFAIK all current MAC desktops (including the mini) have firewire 400.
  6. Ahh Ray Raynor, makes me feel old, but he could have built that power supply. As far as him coming out to "repair" the amp, he (or his elves) could always build a power supply at his shop and then fly it out and make sure everything else is alright with the amp. It may require more than one day but oh well.
  7. Excellent idea, marketing hyberole rather than simple honesty. Now why does that seem somehow appropriate ... Noice,
  8. The AudioTailor stuff really needs MOAR BLACKGATES, plus they won't send me any freebies review samples, so they will not be represented.
  9. I can get you a smokin' deal on some "refurbished" Singlepower amps
  10. Hmmm .. I grew up in Chicago plus I have a very high opinion of myself
  11. For anyone that may be interested in attending the meet or hitting me in the back of the head with a shovel, the "official" announcement for the Illinois meet is up on that other site HERE. Feel free to post there, or if more appropriate, here. Thank you for your time. Carry on.
  12. The files were transcoded to ALAC from FLAC using dbpoweramp. The files play fine on my ASUS or on my iMac using itunes. The files work fine if they are located on the ATV's internal drive but not when they are located on the external drive. The internal drive is too small to hold my library. Network attached storage can be a problem at work as I do not have any control over the network, and as far as I can tell, neither does anyone else.
  13. Well I thought I'd provide an update. I used patchstick to hack the ATV OS and it was semi successful. I was able to get it to recognize an external drive attached to the USB port and I can get it to play individual songs through the files menu. However, none of the original apps. or third party apps (xbmc and boxee) will play the songs (ALAC rips). Based upon the error message and what others have reported on-line, the prognosis does not appear hopeful. Also I just picked up a refurb Mac Mini which I will use as my server. Hopefully it will sound as good as the ATV. It may be my imagination but the work system sounds much better using the ATV/ALAC as source compared to the windows workstation/FLAC as source. Could also be that the Pop/Pulse USB/AES/EBU converter sucks. That being said, I am mightily impressed with the ATV and when using it for its intended purpose it is an amazing device. So I am definitely keeping it but it will be moved back home to work with the iMac and the Sony big screen.
  14. I'm morphsci and I approve of Duggeh's cautionary statement regarding excess proliferation of approvals.
  15. Oh, that's what that was. I thought it was some kind of ethnic break-dancing.
  16. He's too busy being introspective to hear you
  17. No problem on my 1g Touch. All files are transcoded from FLAC to ALAC using dbPoweramp. No skipping whether the screen is on or off.
  18. Jeepster, because he's a douche.
