  1. The looks on the wives' faces when the subject of total sunk cost comes up!
  2. What they do in private is their business, Peggy.
  3. I had a demo Decco (try and say that fast) for a bit and it was decent. This was before headphones for me, so I can't comment on that section. With a better DAC and bigger amp, the Nova looks very nice. Apropos of nothing, I also liked the Era monitors a lot despite all the "style-of-life" ad crap on their Web site. They sound like Aerials, which is a good thing in my book.
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. A new Lexus for the Mrs. at $8,500 off sticker. Someone might as well profit from Autogeddon.
  6. Sophistone 3. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBQAuw4NYLA]YouTube - Hugh Laurie-The Sophisticated Song[/ame]
  7. Bruce Springsteen -- The Ghost Of Tom Joad
  8. I would also suggest having a good read around the "Dedicated Theater Design & Construction" area over at AVS Forum -- where there are many, many chronicles of garage-to-HT conversion projects that should help you ID and avoid some of the more common pitfalls of the design phase.
  9. He's a very interesting-looking felloALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOCAT!
  10. Could you pickle me in it, like Nelson? I rather fancy that.
  11. Try using it in a sentence. Like, say: You're an epic tool.
  12. Built a fairly epic snowman.
  13. As a kept man, my negotiating leverage is somewhat limited. I settled for a nooner.
  14. I built two separate and rather spiffy home theater systems this year and hardly ever watch or play anything on either of them.
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. Free your minds from the shackles of audiotheism. No (gear) fate but what we make!
  17. 6HP, 24" Ariens snowblower.
  18. Some spiffy new UPOCC speaker cables.
  19. No apologies necessary. It's like Mel Brooks said: "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die."
  20. If someone had been sitting on that can, the coroner would have taken lots!
  21. According to APC, they are unopened returns and carry the standard 5-year warranty, so I can't see too much cause for concern.
  22. This is clearly the season in New England for things to become over-encumbered, fall down and break other -- quite important -- things. My wife had apparently gradually accumulated so much cosmetic and pharmacological shit in our (large) medicine cabinet that it finally tore off the wall today and exploded on the floor. I use that word advisedly -- I was in the basement at the time and I thought a plane had hit the fucking house. It also managed to take out the toilet, straight across the s-bend. Clean-up was a real treat and as I was gloomily inventorying all the new things we need (storage, tiles, throne etc.) the unrepentant perp further improved my mood by saying: "I hate this bathroom. Call the builders after Christmas and let's get it completely redone!"
  23. Maybe clothes next? It'll be getting pretty cold soon.
