Investigating entry-level SACD players, found a refurbed Denon DVD-758 for $42 + shipping.- What are you listening to Part Two
I see on Amazon an SACD Hybrid version available for not too much more than the standard. Worth getting? I don't have an SACD player now, but wouldn't rule out the possibility of one in the future. I feel myself moving away from purely digital files to a dedicated player in the upcoming year.- Ipod Touch / Iphone
Exactly. I've found that wifi is prevalent enough to not justify a data plan, especially since 9 months out of the year are spent at school, where I can get service everywhere on campus. I recently got the free upgrade to a Samsung Juke. Although it's already a two year old phone, it's really small and works with Bitpim on my mac, which were really the only requirements I had for a regular phone. I don't really txt that much, so I wasn't worried about a full keyboard. I'd rather send an email anyway and avoid paying the ridiculous bandwidth fees that the cell companies charge.- Apogee ONE
Grawk, what kind of Mac will you be running? If it's a MBP or just a regular MacBook, could you give impressions of the built-in mic vs the ONE's mic? I'm interested in doing some amateur recordings of my violin, but honestly, I'm not serious enough to buy a nice mike and interface, especially when I can have the ONE doing double duty.- Ipod Touch / Iphone
I'm on my family's Verizon plan, so I have one of those little free phones, plus an iPod Touch for everything else. I can get picture messages, then Bluetooth them over to my Mac fairly easily via BitPim, and then use the iPod for everything except basic phone usage. It's not very optimal to have two devices, but until AT&T stops being crappy (never) or Apple teams up with another service, I won't be getting a regular iPhone.- What are you listening to Part Two
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll add these to my music wishlist. EDIT: Is this the Philips Silver Line? Is there any other, more regular place to acquire a copy?- What are you listening to Part Two
I don't listen to it terribly frequently, but I did make a note on the iTunes file as to when the Great Gate of Kiev started... quite epic, but I imagine it'd be even moreso if I heard Cleveland Orchestra perform it in Severance Hall.- What are you listening to Part Two
Oh my, guess I just assumed it was an orchestral work. Thanks for the correction.. I'll have to look into the piece further.- What are you listening to Part Two
^^ Piano solo arrangement? I've got the Cleveland Orchestra directed by Lorin Maazel.. quite good. I'm having difficulty in imagining a lone piano doing justice to the piece.- Deals

A new car battery after AAA gave me a jump. Guess 9 years is a pretty good battery lifespan.- Apple Tablet
Hmm.. I'm a pretty avid Mac user, but up 'till now I haven't really taken those rumors seriously. Looking at your linked article, that actually looks quite intriguing! The secondary screen / touchpad possibility looks quite nifty. If only I didn't have college costs, headphone stuff, and photography all to pay for, I might be able to afford this! I could see some real advantages to adding this as a secondary screen / touchpad, especially in my photography workflow. There's some real potential in the concept. Plus I could probably ditch the Macbook Pro and move to a desktop, either an iMac or Mac Pro.- What are you listening to Part Two
Michael Buble -- It's Time- RIP Les Paul
Yeah, he did that. He also mounted strings and pickups onto a big block of wood to create the first solid body guitar. Or so Wikipedia tells me. I'm too young to have an innate sense of appreciation for Mr. Paul. I will admit that I went to Amazon to check out sample tracks as soon as I read the news.- What did you do today?
