I would have assumed that stems were measured from CTC.

Happy Birthday, Nate!
Thanks everyone, it's been a great birthday weekend. Friday was quality time spent with the kids (and not at work!) and yesterday I got some alone time during the day and got my first rode ride of the season in. Last night the wife and I got to spend time without the kids and had a great dinner in Portsmouth. Unfortunately this morning the wife was not feeling great but we made the best of it and I just snuck in a workout during nap time since the snow returned today. Life is good. And Stretch, you're always up to something so I'm nervously curious what you're up to this time.

Nice JP, I'm looking forward to building the mileage base up and going for some longer rides this year.

2013 - ride #1 - a bit brisk out, but the roads were decently clean with only a few puddles from snow melt. Of course now that I'm back the sun is out and it's getting warmer. If daytime temps start regularly flirting with 50 I can start riding to work again.

And now what did you do TODAY?

Damn that's hot! I changed the stem angle on my Roubaix the other weekend and now need to adjust the angle of my bars, hopefully this afternoon.

Well, I had a little time this weekend so I mounted my spring tires on my spare wheelset. I'm getting pretty fired up to get back out on the road when the weather improves. Unfortunately mother nature has seen fit to drop a decent amount of snow lately which isn't appreciated but not so much that a week's worth of decent weather can't dispatch it.

I get that the guy wants out but the odds of finding a buyer have got to be pretty remote. If he's asking $500k I'd expect there to be at least $2M in retail inventory and it doesn't sound like there's anywhere close to that but maybe I'm missing something.

Why'd you get the drives from Newegg? They appear to be cheaper at Amazon.

Sound Proofing
Honestly, I'd strongly consider hiring a consultant. Otherwise you're just as likley to get bad results as good. But it also really depends on the level of expectation. Are we talking true isloation (which will require significant investment) or merely mitigation? In my life as a consulting structural engineer I had several experiences with clients wanting anything from mitigation to complete isolation. Migitation was generally desired by developers of multi-unit complexes where sound transmission (to suome degree) is acceptable but paper thing walls are not and I think this is where you're heading. The only person that I ever saw successfully implement isolation was Hughes-esque private masion that I'm quite sure is not what your friend is considering. To get an idea of where to start search for something like "STC rated assemblies" and have a look at this http://www.usg.com/rc/system-catalogs/acoustical-assemblies-en-SA200.pdf. Skip to the end where you can see some typical construction details. There is a minor tangential concern with how much weight you might potentially be adding to the first floor framing (basement ceiling) if you really go whole hog and start adding a bunch of shielding material.

Blech, Chris. Reminds me of the day I barely had enough time to squeeze in a ride and promptly had my chain skip the big cog and get lodged in my rear wheel. Fuuuuuuuuuu...
