  1. If I may be permitted to throw a wrench in the WA2 plan, if I had that ballpark to spend I might think (especially given your previous bent) about the TTVJ Peak.

    Wooooohoooooo!
  3. Steve, shit, I don't know what else to say. Shit. Boo, sorry about kitty, hopefully he'll make a full recovery. Naaman, good luck to you and your wife, I hope everything goes as planned.
  4. Happy Birthday Tyll!

    Deals

Damnit, I missed the Logitech deal again.
  6. Sorry to hear that MD.
  7. Gene, Tell him to hop on Craigslist instead, it would appear to me that there's a fair number of wifi-only models up for sale.
  8. Safe travels, Naaman!
  9. One of these days I'll get around to polishing and posting the schematic for the Menace-TC. The Crack probably looks a lot like it and coupling the output really helps when driving low impedance loads. I always found the HA-2 (and original Menace to a lesser degree) to be very hit or miss with low-ohm loads. I agree wholeheartedly though, for the price the Crack is great project.
  10. Dare I ask how many you are required to order?
  11. I am not at all a fan of large diameter stepped bits. I have yet to get good results using one larger than 3/4". And yes, I use a keyless chuck on the mill and it works great.
  12. I don't know what you did but the belt used to slip on my drill press long before the quill/taper/arbor would have slipped and fallen out.
  13. I don't really have an issue with their business model or the way they do business, they just don't happen to really make a device that works the way that I want it to. There's no perfect one device for everyone, and for me the iphone coupled with AT&T was the worst phone that I ever owned. I finally realized that I want a phone to act like a phone first, if it's also a pretty capable little mobile computer great. But I'm done making excuses for device functionality in the name of a great user-experience especially in light of the fact that Apple's own update largely ruined that user experience edge that the phone previous held over others. Their computers simply cannot run the software that I want to run in an affordable manner (or in some cases at all). If they work for what you want to do they are, in my experience, great and I'd have no qualms recommending them.
  14. As of today I'm blissfully apple free.
  15. If/Once Kevin confirms that they are appropriate for T2 use feel free to put me down for the min. qty (16?).
  16. I'm all for efficiency on this. I've sat through long live drafts before, they suck.
  17. A very happy birthday, Todd.
  18. Ugh, my site visit which was scheduled to take about 4hrs took 6-1/2. I left at 8:30, arrived on site at 10, got so frustrated with the lack of progress that I started helping the crew and finally got out of there at 1:30. Home at 3pm, in time to help Lily get in her pool and relax for a little while.
  19. I decided to go a bit crazy and try to use the mill to at least some level of its capability at something other than cutting round holes... I'm pretty pleased with the results. It was hard to do as well as I wanted to because it's simply impossible to hold the extrusion rigidly enough while milling. If I ever do this again I'm going to have to work on some sort of custom clamping rig to deal with extrusion flex and vibration. As it stands, perfectly acceptable on DIY gear in my book and certainly passes the look test at distances greater than a couple of feet. I haven't quite decided what to do with the top panel yet since I know the design intent is for the heat sink to be located above the trafo. I'll probably stick with that and simply do some sort of hole pattern over the Vreg heat sink.
  20. I feel your pain boo, somehow despite being technically unemployed right now I have to work tomorrow.
  21. Sorry to hear that Steve.
