404LE vs ESP950 - which is better?
You don't need to spend a grand on an amp. You could do pretty well (in my book anyway) for about half that.

404LE vs ESP950 - which is better?
The E90 is still the weak link, all you're likely doing by using the MPX3 is coloring the sound of your source the in the same way that you are used to.

What did you do today?
Sewed a couple buttons, soldered some stuff, now cooking dinner for one.

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Looking at the hi-res version of the pic they sure just look like cut bits of teflon tubing.

vBulletin 4 Upgrade
I've already spotted somethings working better, thanks Todd!

Post the last thing you bought!
As you wish. Clearly the cleanliness was short lived... In nice shape and NO GROUND LOOPS! Oh, and I picked this little guy up today too for the main rig.

Picked up an Adcom GTP-400 on my way home for the soldering rig.

Grado HF-2 thread
These strike me as perfect candidates for the first HF-2 woody. If I wasn't pooling capital for other reasons right now I'd give it a shot.

NKOTB - TTVJ/Millett 307A Headphone Amp
I don't expect it's a permanent hole in Todd's lineup but I don't have any idea what (if any) replacement would look like. And nothing Nugget Audio would or could ever produce would replace the TTVJ 307A.

NKOTB - TTVJ/Millett 307A Headphone Amp
I happened to look at Todd's site this morning (which is new?!?) and the 307A is no longer listed.

The ask dsavitsk thread
It doesn't take much to cut the plastic bezel to allow the board to protrude into the cavit it creates behind the back panel. Not that I've had to do anything like that before...

The ask dsavitsk thread
No chance that you're forgetting the fact that the Hammond end panels already essentially have a shim built into the plastic bezel?

The ask dsavitsk thread
Knowing Doug I'd be somewhat surprised if it had gain.

Happy Birthday, Head-Case!
Even less for some of us.

The case is about 12" long, right?

Remote control Mac desktop for free?
Depending on which version of Windows this was it's highly likely that it didn't touch the file structure of non-windows OS related files. And you just use the free trial of gotomypc or something like that to have a look at it.

Looking for digital SLR recommendations
Haj, At the rate models are introduced you're always going to feel like you're overpaying. As long as you're not buying the day something comes out you're probably not doing badly, IMO, so just find something you like, buy it, and then ignore the temptation to see what it's currently selling for. Odds are whatever you buy is going to be phased out and upgraded, retooled or whatever within 12mo. It's borderline insane what Nikon and Cannon have been up to for the last 5 or 6 years and I don't see how it can continue.

Looking for digital SLR recommendations
Ehhh, I'm not sure I agree. It's not that I think glass should be a secondary consideration but I still don't have as much invested in glass as my D80 body cost. I think a vast majority of hobbyist shooters could live long, happy photographic lives with say a D90 body and a 18-200 VR lens. The body would run you ~$800, the lens ~$760. So my advice would be to look at it more from a 50/50 perspective rather than a majority directed at either purchase. Hell, most would probably be just fine with the D90 kit that includes the 18-105 VR lens at just a tick over $1000.

I think in the end you'll find that you would have been comfortable paying more.

Fuck in snow
Solid 8" here, very heavy, huge pain in the ass to clear the driveway even with the snow blower.
