  1. I have 3 different pieces of hardware that do my routing all running pfSense. I use the ASUS AC68u as my access point which has some interesting features you can unlock in the firmware for power output and channels. This gives me an always on VPN and management rules, network anti virus, threat analysis through squid if wanted, and some other nice packages. My 1st setup is an old IBM Pentium 4 think-center with an extra intel network card. It's not very power efficient, but has at least 600 Mbps throughput and cost next to nothing for the hardware. My second setup I put together to replace the IBM and ended up using at work for a bit, I have an APU1D4 headless router box that runs at 24W and has about 500-600Mbps throughput as well using a dual core 1ghz bobcat core and 4gb ddr3 ram. Small, cost me about $216 from http://www.pcengines.ch/for all the hardware. If you don't need the customization options, it performs about on par with the ubiquity edgerouter lite (for half the cost, the edgerouter lite is the better choice, but I've been burned by ubiquity on network adapters and support before). My main machine router for the 1Gbps throughput and 25W power efficiency is the SuperMicro SuperServer SYS-5018A-FTN4. It has an Intel Atom C2758 (rangeley as Mark mentioned) with 8 cores at 2.4Ghz and Intel quickassist. Quickassist is interesting because its an algorithm accelerator that will soon be supported in pfSense so that an encrypted connection will be much lighter on the CPU. Should max out the 1Gb ethernet ports at 1.488M PPS. I plan to host my own VPN and Plex remote server one day hopefully. I currently only have 8 GB of ECC RAM installed and an SSD running Hyper-V for managing different network apps. Costs about $650 in all, cheapest place is at http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=SY-518AFN4
  2. I have to pay $55 a month for 20Mb bonded adsl2. Best I can do in my area. It's uncappd though. I also pay $65 a month for unlimited 4g from Verizon.
  3. I've used 6gb on TIDAL while driving in just one day. Not safe for those not on unlimited plans. I've noticed tracks are not guaranteed to be there from day to day. I've gotten used to tracks disappearing from the Tuesday 10 playlists.
  4. Happy belated Steve, hope to see you in June.

    Deals

I like my SB12-NSD mostly. Good price on new.
  6. Tomorrow night - Periods of snow, heavy at times, in the evening will transition to a wintry mix overnight. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. 5 to 8 inches of snow and ice expected. It won't be above freezing until Saturday. Check out the forecast for the day Thursday - Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the upper teens and lows -4 to 0F. Very bitter week for NC.

    Mattresses

I would rather have paid the $100 extra for the queen myself, it just would not fit my bedroom and frame I already have and I'm cheap enough currently to just deal with that. I will upgrade to the queen as soon as possible when I find a new living arrangement.

    Mattresses

Got a new new bed to hope in. I purchased a Leesa full, it has the same 100 days policy and 10 year warranty with using a code for $100 off. $690 for a full mattress with shipping. It seems to be competing with the Casper.
  9. I thought this was just another way to advertise wireless speakers using Google as a feature rather than a standalone device with universal outputs you can connect to a sound system you already own.
  10. Had the time over the Holiday to finish reading Cryptonomicon yesterday. Heavy on the tech side, but the quick pace and comedy kept me burning through pages (ended up buying 2 physical copies and 1 digital once I got tired of not finding a copy on hand when I found the time). Definitely on another level from the other several novels I've read from Neil Stephenson. Greatly enjoyed it.
  11. I've been using it for about 2 months now. Tried PC, android, and Chrome and came away impressed with all. Funny enough, the PC client might be the worst of all as an interface. I wish they made use of recommendations as well, but the playlists listings have been useful. Afrodelic music playlist was a good one.
  12. Merry Christmas to all! Echoing John's thoughts. May the new year treat you well.
  13. The modem for the internet at home died Thursday, which isn't too bad as it was vulnerable to the unfortunate cookie vulnerability and I can tether to the phone in the meantime. I missed so much in the last week or so, I'm stunned. You're all in my thoughts, take care please and as much as possible, I wish you a happy holiday.
  14. I hadn't gotten on head-case this week yet and and am stunned at the horrible events that passed. I wish Larry and his daughter as quick and painless recovery as possible and beg that everyone has as much comfort and protection as possible. Please take care and if possible, get together with those who can be with you this holiday season. Anything I can do to help, I will!
  15. I love my pair still. No problem with near field with the prefectwave DAC and xlr. Tidal sounds nice.
  16. I'm the one with the 2014 2.4L CX-5 on the forum.
  17. Try XDA developers for info maybe. Wish I could help with that.
