The merits of upsampling
The more I think about it the more I wonder if the reason we hear these filters in the "space" of the room is because those types of cues are in the lower sound levels of the signal and have started to interact with the dither which is a very wide banded noise with which the filter will interact and change the character. When the signal clips or has some very high transient (e.g. cymbal hit) the adopodizing filters definitely sound more natural.

The merits of upsampling
I tend to use a brickwall because that's how the music was downsampled anyway (if it wasn't it would cause aliasing) so it's recreating what's on the disc and I like that concept. That said I agree that other filters can help a lot with some of the clipping and transients in some recordings, I even made a couple custom filters myself for Foobar back in the day. The closed form filter thing seems really like marketing to me not arguing that it sounds bad or good because again it can.

Streaming player (Sony Walkman) vs. iPhone 6 for Tidal
Craig I run my Squeeze server on my WD NAS which is pretty great and saves me having my PC on all the time. How do you get Tidal and other streaming to work?

And now what did you do TODAY?
Pulled out of the lake house complex on to route 1 and accelerated up to traffic speed to get nailed by a cop going the other direction for 60 in a 45. Really stupid mistake. Didn't realize that radar worked when driving the opposite direction.

It's my understanding that with DA9000 I can switch from 50/34 to 52/36 if I want or even 53/39 because they all are the same BCD. Therfore just switch the rings if you don't like it. I think you mean crankset when you say bottom bracket. I love the shifting in my Di2 but I still to this day tend to press the wrong buttons when in a rush.

The joy of the newer Dura Ace is that you can just buy rings and switch back of you don't like it.

I have the park tools version of this: https://www.amazon.com/Bikehand-Mechanic-Bicycle-Repair-Stand/dp/B00D9B7OKQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=outdoor-recreation&ie=UTF8&qid=1472759178&sr=1-4&keywords=bike+repair+stand I'm guessing that it's perfectly acceptable but maybe too pricey?

Capitol Audio Fest August 28-30
Glad to hear it's moving to the fall. I enjoyed it at lot last year (especially Odyssey) though I probably will not be in the market for a real system for a while. I had all these plans to upgrade our Yamaha YSP soundbar this year but I just cant justify it as it works and sounds good enough for us in the movies we watch and has good spatial information.
