  2. Mine arrived today too! Excited to hook it up tomorrow
  3. Dusty I vote SciPy or Octave. I have used Octave for DSP work myself though I use Matlab at work. A bunch of people also use SciPy and I will be learning more Python in the near future due to necessity. I tried to get used to R but I found the data structures clunky and it didn't really seem setup from the get go for scripting. That said I was not trained and was just trying to get a particular thing going and once completed I abandoned it.
  4. Happy birthday!

Installed the PSU today and ran the OC in FurMark for about an hour with no issues. Random question for people running Nvidia and that own Project Cars. Does your Geforce Experience list Project Cars VR? Mine does not and I can't figure out why and I'm wondering if it's just gone for everyone.

Helpful as always Dan. For the $20 I'll stick with the 750 vs 650 though it's probably overkill. I really wasn't aware that the PSU would just thermal out and shut down with no warning, it's scary to think of bricking a machine for $20

As I understand it the OC was stable with GPU temps and everything else stable but after about 30 minutes the power supply just switched off, and did so again after booting at which point I took the OC off. I found a thread where someone blamed their failing power supply for that behavior but in my case I calculated the power usage and I only have about 20w headroom on my 500W supply after I upgraded my ram to 32GB. The OC pushed me into the 550W range so it all makes sense. I went with a 750W PSU to replace it figuring headroom is good or should I just get a 650?

Today I learned that if you overclock your GPU your Power Supply can decide to just quit and give you the gift of a nice hard shutdown.... I will need to rectify this ASAP
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Prime rib just went in Had to buy the cooler an jury rigged a insulation flap
  15. I live 10 minutes drive from my shop and I ended up having to mail them a check recently. They were doing their annual bike drive for local kids and I bought 2 kids a bike. It is depressing how little time I have for anything not work or kids during daylight hours.
  16. Thanks for the concern. It wasn't locked or anything. It's a glass screen door. We never lock it I think it was a visitor we had last night just pushing on the screen door too much when opening. It even could have been the mailman opening it to put mail through the door.
  17. Oops I should have explained that the inner main security door was fine.
  18. Today I came home to find our screen door lock broken. The part that engages to the frame lying on the stoop (white and silver in the picture below) It was held in by this broken pin. I managed to MacGyver the hell out of it and replace it with a bolt and nut and some other stuff. The first picture was post repair. Works perfect. My DIY for the day.
