I said I wouldn't get involved but I must.
When properly designed all cables are the same. The test you described sounds like the old monster cable one where they took a 200ft roll 24awg wire and compared it to 200ft of 8 guage of their wire. Realistic? No. Proper use? No. In your case if the wire being used influenced the frequency response then something is wrong with the wire. If it was that simple every bloody wire manufacturer would just show their plots..... but somehow they don't.... strange:palm:
That said if you claim you can hear the difference between gold vs silver vs copper for a solid core wire for the same length and AWG then you're probably hearing placebo since if there was a difference the manufacturers would again show it proudly.

Hmm interesting. Mine will definitely not make it until after CJ.
I'm now trying to decide if I want to wait until I hear them to bother with balancing or not. If I like them then I balance them and I can order the stock cable anytime to replace it and keep the resale value. Of course they could sell out but I'm patient.
You have a cable ABX box? The only one I've heard of was rather complex and sadly unavailable unless I want to built one. My guess is you don't really mean ABX which is blind but just A/B where you know which is which. I've done some A/B with interconnects and I could never hear a difference but I don't think there is a difference so I guess I could be slanting the results. If you did real ABX I'm rather interested.
I've never seen an ABX for cables where the cable lengths were reasonably short (12ft or so) or the cable was suitably sized ever come up with statistically significant audible differences. This is for speaker cables I should be clear but I believe the same holds true for headphones and interconnects because of the much higher loads impedance.
Edit found this one:

Cool. I heard a Stax transformer box with the ESP950 and a Beta22 and it sounded pretty damn good Certainly better than the E/90 (but that's not quite fair).
I'm enjoying the SRM-1 but I am looking forward to the KGSS. I'm using my usual auto-correction using my DEQ.
edit: I should get used to using multiquotes...
Well my Omega 2 mk1 are here and sounding very good out of the SRM-1/MK2 but it appears that the amp does not have enough juice to really drive the highs on these.
No matter what I do above around 16kHz the corrections don't do anything. The KGSS will fix this
Very refined though. Glad I invested. Now all that needs to happen is my KGSS arrives by Thursday so I can dream about it when I'm stuck at CJ
Well Koss sent me another mailing label so I figured what the hell and sent them off again. I had taken the driver apart and got the squeal to go pretty much away using a air blaster but what the heck it's worth giving them one more try.
I have the Omega 2 for company anyway
Well guys I'm there with 1.75L of the finest Barbadian rum. We shall see how long she lasts.
Looking forward to it. I was thinking of moving my flight back to Saturday but I think I must come out to be a part of the fun
