  1. Somebody else try Minimalist Audio Player and tell me what ya think. I never tried the minimalist one, just the Stealthplayer. I think it's the latest one. I been listening for couple of days now going back and forth between stealth and foobar.
  2. I've always had noticable hum when it's not connected. Maybe it's just my stuff.
  3. forgot, devilsound is sending me a Halide Bridge to listen to and take to canjam. Should I end up purchasing it Iwill make it available to anyone wnatin to give it a try.
  4. Exactly. Ideally you would want one clock for evreything. I wonder if that's how it's done in the QB-9, keeping everygthing in one box. That's gonna be a hoot ain't it. I think this is the color lcd thing you're talking about. I was considering the one without the lcd for a time.
  5. The only other sub $1k async "plug n play~driver/software-less" USB converter product that I'm aware of is Gordons $900 Proton that's going for ~$700 now on agon. Unable to find info on the release of the Wavelink I will probably give the Bridge a try here soon(obviously Gordon has chosen to sell Streamlength to others before developing his own lower priced stuff.) The Musiland 02US that uses software makes a noticable improvement all around, to me, especially in the lower freqs, if somewhat buggy at times when switching between foobar and an online streamer like Grooveshark or Last.fm. Not really sure about the reclock stuff Dusty. I guess it would depend somewhat if your dac has a good clock etc. to begin with. I agree totally with the implementation being key to good sound. I think sorta along the same lines as Gordon in that the computer is the "source of the source/dac" if you will. In my limited dabblings and experiments I've found that async makes an improvement for me, even though the Musiland has worse timing error readings on the digital lens than a cheap Marantz DV6500 CD player(and it sounds better even without the lens reclocking the signal.)
  6. Halide Design Bridge Review | Computer Audiophile A $450+ 24/96 converter from Devilsound/Halide using GRs streamlength code.

    Canjam 2010.

If anyone has some floor space to crash fri & sat night I would be happy to compensate with $ and perhaps a modest rig for listening.
  9. Now if a previous owner could have more than one pair at that price.... Killer avatar btw.
  10. You should try these. I think you would like 'em. I did. I agree with Shelly on the 2000. I gotta try the Shures.
  11. I have.... and you're right. What do you have in mind to switch between sources?
  12. Can't say thank you enough. Anything you want or need just say the word and it's yours.
  13. I've got some Keratherm Red 86/83 in to220 size. Got em from Marc here. Lemme know if you wanna try them and I'll put some in the mail.
  14. I haven't had a chance to do very much listening. 300 is a good place to start. I don't remember noticing any difference between the LM317 and DN2540.
  15. You're right about the crazy fast Illinois caps Chris(I read it in KG's "Pure class A dynamic HPA" article on HW), and I have searched for them wanting to use them but haven't found anything that looks suitable. I would like to know if they are even still available. I have FMs to replace the originally spec'd FCs on the boards, but haven't done the work yet. I can't recall all the specifics now but some of the specs for the FM are way up there in the mhz and the ripple multiplier suffers some at audio freq's. I'm all for squeezing every ounce out of a very good sounding amp. I think you will enjoy yours.
