  1. merry christmas, imo, ymmv, kiss my ass, etc, etc....
  2. Subscription paid in full, sir. I have thought about having a place, and I don't know exactly where that place would be, for us to share links and what-not to material/reading about other, more involved facets of audio machinery. heh
  3. Smashing!(never seen it before) I know the one who requested it should be very pleased. Cant wait to see the totl ps. merry christmas to you tooo Kevin.
  4. Custom Lounge Chair & Ottoman by Jack Rogers Hopkins | Todd Merrill Antiques & Associates, Inc.
  5. wtf lock unlock..... I did the same, and thought the same. I am crazy, and heavily medicated. I won't be satisfied until computers are powered by tubes again.
  6. Looks like the zeners are in correct. I can't quite make out the one on the right(if you're facing the front of the amp), and can't make out the color bands on the resistors, but it kinda looks like R1 and 3 are 740(transposed 470, which should be R2) ... it's hard to see. On another note, it looks like you have both C12 and C13 populated. KG's notes claim use of one or the other, but not both.
  7. Yes. They would. As always, a treat for the eyes. From Peter and Jeff as well.
  8. Yea, his website is the first place i looked. Can't remember if I saw one there.
  9. I can see the nurse saying "if you do something wrong and your leg falls off don't you come running to meeee"
  10. I can't find that album, but the other DTB stuff(listening on Grooveshark) is.... oh yea. Definitely on Santa's list.
  11. From the resident guru himself... I can't find the info right now, and I'm not sure but what it wasn't something that he said in his room in Chicago at CJ, but he remarked that they measured well(the Bose) and a few other positive comments, that escape me right now... Maybe he(Tyll) will comment...further.
  12. Brilliant description. From said description: "Q E D You need one. "
  13. Yep. It's not weird or different to me any more. It took me some time to get used to. I like it, but I'm game to try something new now. You got it plugged into the 1600?

    Magnepan 1.7

Looks to me like there is a slot between every fin. Indeed. Perhaps as soon as we are finished with our preamp here, we can take a look at an amp to match it.
  15. Yea. The thing that piques my interest here(about the X2) is the "async" part. Just going from my own experience and experimentation with stuff. I'm sure we'll know more soon enough(maybe)?
  16. Moisture could have an effect. By itself or in combination with the dust. Do you hear anything different when you have the phones on and then touch the amp? Want me to come on down and help troubleshoot it with ya? ... over a glass of that $15 a bottle stuff.
  17. Put a tube in the socket, then use chipquik.
  18. Why not just go with a chassis that has enough room to start with. Par Metal has many different sizes to choose from, and even "Create a Size" for those applications where "that extra quarter inch can make a world of difference." I didn't know that Par Metal now offers heatsinks. No price, but they do offer to cut to your specifications. No, I'm not suggesting another board layout change:)
  19. Well, not really sure about your listening preferences, but I managed to get quite a bit of head-time at canjam with the LCD and 2 sets of your TPs(Steve's and Colin's). I didn't care at all for the LCD but loved the TP's on both my rig and Justin's Headamp table. I just sent the loaner HE-6 back after listening for 2 weeks and I miss them. Fang told me in a PM that the new production version wouldn't need as much of an amp as the loaner did. He offered to sell them(the loaner) to me for a discount, and had I had some spare change I would have taken them without a second thought. Very neutral and clear to me, if perhaps just a tad bit rolled off at the upper end of the spectrum, and just a little bit dark in my rig, which I like.
  20. What's the ballpark for a pre? Looks like the KGITSOJC is swinging 8v peak unbal.
  21. From the product page at Emotiva... •Nominal Output Voltage: 1V RMS •Peak Output Voltage: > 12VRMS (balanced) ...the description of the thing says the fully discrete output stage is 2A/12V capable, and I spy only one pair each of balanced and unbalanced output jacks. One would assume(reference SNL skit) that in order to see a standard line level output of ~2V would require some digital attenuation. Cranking the volume to full would no doubt be considered "hot." What, probably ~6V peak unbalanced.
