Thanks guys. I've been thinking about an Invicta Chronograph (multiple dials) when I saw this for a similar price. So, I have to decide soon.

  4. So, my 3.5 year old Apple TV is dying. I bought this in the first few days that the Apple TV's were released, and have gotten a lot of use out of it. At first I thought it was over-heating, but even cooling it off overnight by unplugging it doesn't help this problem. The video card now shows artifacts, from tiny green red and white stars on all the screens, to bad pixelation when playing a movie, to freezing up and becoming unresponsive. This is when using Component video out or HDMI. I restored the OS to factory (OS 1.0) with no help, and updated it to OS 3.2 (or whatever is newest) with no help. So, I'm taking to Apple tomorrow to see if it's a simple fix, but I don't have high hopes for it. Anyone else have a similar experience with theirs?

Go ahead and laugh, but I bought one for our "white elephant gift swap" this Xmas.
  14. My SR-325i had loads of bass out of the box, but by 200 hours the bass levels had dropped noticeably and I didn't like them as much anymore. Has anyone else noticed this issue with new SR-325i? Maybe since the Magnum uses a modded Grado 325i driver then it might do the same, which would improve it in this case?
  15. You can make custom presets to limit how much scaling the screen has to do and to keep the file size reasonable. Usually if you rip at 720 x 480 (or anamorphic) at 1,500 - 1,800 kbps your full size movie might take 1.0 - 1.3 Gb and still look decent on a 40" TV as well as the iPad. I also make a smaller 480 x 320 or similar file at 500 kbps for my iPhone and Nano, which only take 400-700 Mb space and can fit on a CDROM.
  16. You can use handbrake to rip protected DVDs into H.264 files, and use iTunes to load them onto it.
  17. That's great, thanks for that link!
  18. My Subaru Tribeca radio head unit can't be replaced with an aftermarket, due to the dashboard design, and mine doesn't have an aux input. So I am forced to use an FM transmitter. NONE of the many that I have tried from Belkin, Kensington and Griffin are powerful enough to be properly picked up properly by the Tribeca's radio, except for the Monster. I hate to recommend Monster, but if you must use an FM transmitter it seems to be the best I have found. The sound is about as good as you'd expect. But, if your Subaru can accept an aftermarket deck with aux in, I would go for that and not repair the stock one. I'm about ready to buy a 4-channel amp and a switch to let me either use my iPod with LOD/Amp to feed the speakers, or the stock radio to power the speakers. But, my wife will take over this car in April and I'll be getting a new Subaru with aux in, while she doesn't care about iPod inputs.
  19. What I don't understand is why the eXStatA with it's "1% distortion" still drives my O2 Mk1 better than either of my previous SRM-1 Mk2 Pro ever could. The SRM-1 Mk2 Pro with O2 Mk1 or Mk2 was soft and muted with them, and had to be cranked to max yet still had poor dynamics and drive with either O2. The T1 and GES drove the O2 Mk1 much better than the SRM-1 Mk2 Pro, but I still don't think they could match the SRM-717 with them. Those two still sounded soft around the edges with the 02, and needed more power, while the 717 could play loud, fast and dynamic with them (but still sounded detailed, spacious, warm and crisp at the same time). Not having compared them side by side, I still felt that my experience with the O2/eXStatA was similar to my short experience with the O2/717. I really liked the 717, but I also really like my hybrid eXStatA. I suppose I'll need to find a way to listen to someone else's 717 side by side with my eXStatA some day and see what I think then. Aren't there different types of distortion, when one kind is more musical than the other? Is that the case with the eXStatA? Either way, I still find the eXStatA enjoyable to listen to.

  22. Oh noes, Asr doesn't hate the Asgard yet. I'm hoping he'll bring it to the Colorado meet next month, just to hear it out of curiosity.
