  1. Any news about ALAC support yet?
  2. Check this guy out. I almost thought he plays a normal right handed guitar in left handed position and just doesn't re-string the guitar for left handed. So the strings look upside down. But, when I looked again I see that he just strings the guitar the opposite way vs normal, since the volume and tone knobs are still near the bottom of the guitar. I wonder if he learned to play using the wrong handed guitar, and now he is stuck having to leave the strings that way? He is pretty good too.
  3. Thanks! Here's another one: Amazon.com: Analekta: Classical Gems: Free Sampler: Various Artists: MP3 Downloads
  4. It was more of a "I wonder if it is put together well enough to give my father-in-law without feeling like it came out of a cracker jack box." I'm not expecting much, but if it's more like a $20 watch than a $5 watch then we'll both be happy.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFWIzoxYQ4s I feel sorry for these guys...
  6. Bought it too, but I wonder how well made they are...
  7. I got back from RMAF a week ago but the only full size headphone I have unpacked from the trip are my K1000, and that was only to test the EHHA vs the ZDT for a couple of hours. The rest of the time I have been listening to the JH13Pro.
  8. One big improvement was in the bass, there is much better impact - with the EF1 and Black Eyes Peas the bass is almost visceral. They also seem to play louder with the EF1 amp than they could at CanJam, maybe because the 28-30 ohm load is easier for the amp to supply enough current. The earpads are nicer velour, like those off the Proline 2500 or K702. I thought the pads were a bit stiff and hard, but should soften up with some use. If they used the JMoney leather pads like the LCD-2 that would be nice.
  9. He's already done the one wearing the hat...
  10. I loved that poem.
  11. Slightly off topic but in-line with this discussion of the EHHA at RMAF. I have the EHHA here on loan, and while it still isn't perfect with the K1000 it is clearly better with the K1000 over the ZDT in a few areas. (1) the bass is tighter and more defined with the EHHA and K1000, with not as much of a bass cloud although still a little muddy vs the HD800 tight bass, (2) The mids are not as forward or over-present as they are with the ZDT and it's less colored, and (3) the treble with the EHHA has a slight increased sparkle over the ZDT with the K1000, although the ZDT treble improves as it heats up for a couple of hours. I am going to try rolling some 12AX7/5751 tubes in the ZDT and see what that does. The GE grey plate 5751 in the ZDT right now is perfect with the HD800/600 RS-1/HF-2 and LA7000, while the stock Mullard re-issue was a little brighter and edgier and this one is smoother and softer. I have a GE black plate 5751, a couple of Tung Sol 5751, a Telefunken smooth plate 12AX7, and the old 12BZ7 from the GES that Craig says is okay to use. He said my Mullard 12AU7 or Siemens ECC82 wont bias right.
  12. That's great, but too bad about having to re-rip stuff. I am going through the same thing. I have been adding music to iTunes since 2003, and I would rip CD at 160K so I could know which songs were not iTunes purchases. I only used the music on iPods, not with a outboard DAC, so I didn't think I needed to go higher. By early 2007 I was ripping CDs in 320K because with my new E4C and C700 IEM I could hear the improvement. I started ripping lossless 2 years ago after I joined head-fi and bought an iBasso D1 DAC/amp, in addition to ripping the 320K version that I still do for smaller iPods. That was when I discovered the joys of listening to my Macbook as a digital music server and hearing the music in CD quality without having to pull the CD off the shelf and load them up one at a time. I now have about 600 albums in iTunes and about 200 are lossless. I still have about 300 older CDs that I need to add to iTunes.
  13. My Favorite Martian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  14. My caption when I posted that in my MobileMe Gallery was, "My Favorite Martian".
  15. Where are the fire trucks?
  16. They could finish getting rid of the rest of that 6.3 - 8 Khz peak, which is is already much improved from the demo version but not gone. It's still audible listening to test tones with Michael Knowles "Bink audio test CD". But I agree, it doesn't seem to affect the sound quality with music or add sibilance, so how significant would taking that out really be in terms of improvement?
  17. Which one hits the water first, and which one can walk on water to get back into the boat?
  18. Yeah, the HF-2 don't sound too bad if it's the first headphone you put on for the day, but the HD800 make the HF-2 sound bland and veiled.
  19. The source. When I switched from the Apple TV to the Macbook Pro and then went back and compared the two, and the fact that the EHHA was so far ahead of both of them that it rendered them almost equally bad.
  20. In the end I sold the ESP-950 and kept the Smegma Pro. You should be proud.
  21. I'm sorry but I felt the Moth sounded about the same with K1000 as my ZDT, but with less power. With both the Moth and ZDT I felt the K1000s were lacking dynamics and impact and felt slow, while the EHHA woke them up and brought them to life. The K1000 through the EHHA finally impressed me with how good the K1000 really can be, right before I was gonna give up and sell the K1000. Now I see them in a different light. I am borrowing the EHHA, and will have an SAC K1000 amp loaner here next Monday to compare with K1000 and HD800. I think the things I came away from RMAF wanting (that I could afford) are an EHHA, an eXStata, and the GR9 iPod digital DAC box or Wadia iTransport. I'd prefer the Woo WES, but don't think I can swing it without selling more stuff than I'd like to part with.
  22. I have a few photos from CanJam @ RMAF posted online: MobileMe Gallery I left my camera in the car today and didn't get any more. Sorry.
  23. While I like Asr's KGBH SE more than my GES and the eXStata with the O2 Mk1 here at RMAF, I think I might like the Woo WES in it's latest configuration a little better. The prototype at RMAF has been upgraded to current specs, except for no phase splitter for SE>Balanced. The WES is much better than it sounded at CanJam (when it had half the power).
  24. It really sounded good with HD580 and 24/96 flac files here at RMAF on Saturday.
