    Canjam 2010.

This room thing gets goofier and goofier, through no fault of Jim's, btw. I just booked four nights, June 3-6. After many machinations relating to what type of room was available at any rate each night, here is what I learned: 1. There are no king rooms available on the 3rd, period. 2. There are no double rooms unavailable on the 4th, period. 3. There are double and king rooms available on the 5th-7th. So, I could not opt for king the whole time, and if I want to maximize the double room nights then I would have to change rooms twice. Based on all of this, I booked a double room the 3rd and then a king room the 4th-6th. Gene and I will just be that much closer those nights. The very nice booking lady, Mary, told me to check back in later to see if the reservations ease up and they might be able to get me in one type of room the whole time. Bottom line: book something NOW if you may be going.

  4. I've had the same misapprehension, but in this case the thread must have been pretty buried. Kind of a clue that it isn't current.
  5. I have used my HF-1s for travel cans for years. The HF-2s are better but heavier so they typically stay home. I do like them both and will not sell either of them.
  6. You're a helpful lot, but this thread is one year old and the OP hasn't posted since last April. Grave robbers.
  7. *snicker, snicker* Ray Brown & Laurindo Almeida -- Moonlight Serenade (Jeton Vinyl) Wow, does this thing knock my socks off with the AirTight PC-1! BASS in your bowels! Wow.
  8. Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark (UK Vinyl - cover below not exactly the same)
  9. The Waterboys -- Fisherman's Blues (Vinyl)
  10. Pete Townshend -- All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes (Vinyl)
  11. Never heard that one. Should be fun.
  12. Leonard Cohen -- I'm Your Man
  13. Agree as to HP1s but I put a balanced Equinox on my PS-1s and think it is an improvement over the stock. I kept the stock for later, although this is one set of cans I intend to will to my kids.
  14. Yeah, 1.5 x 1 seems right. That way the diameter is just about half of the height of the panel.
  15. Kevin, do you have a drawing or picture of the face plate? I'm generally in favor of big KaNOBBs but I agree that nearly 3" seems too large. Seeing the plate layout and dimensions could help though.
  16. Now I'm hungry, thanks Mike. That's very cool Nate. Have fun, especially since there won't be a Mexican showing up and ruining it for everyone. Pics or ban, Steve, pics or ban.
  17. Just finished: John Zorn -- O'o Just started: Dave Douglas -- Spirit Moves
  18. The mother of pearl is really sweet looking. Not sure about the sharks, but maybe pics in ears would help us tell you what you should do! Drag, but listen and learn to love them.
  19. Good news on all fronts Pete.
  20. Agreed. Damn the sound is so great too. Now playing another fave of yours: Morrissey -- Years of Refusal
  21. Fox cannot wait to sign him up for a new show. It will kick ass and can start at 11 to really fuck with Leno.
  22. Not to derail the Stax Mafia's strong-arm recommendations, which are very worthy, but the Rockhopper balanced M3 is a very fine idea and there may be a very worthy B22 posted soon but the one linked above is NOT worth consideration because of the builder. I can't really see the Bijou being a different enough or improved enough option over the EHHA to justify that purchase. The ZD/ZDT/BA options at Eddie Current are among the best and will make those Joe Grados sing like you may not have ever heard them. If you insist on keeping those stupid D7Ks, then they will make them listenable. Woo Audio options should be considered as well, and a nice WA6 would be great in your price range. Oh, and by the way, I am sitting here staring at the 12 glowing tubes on my SinglePower amp in the house I own, so there are many people around who have them and even love them. Mikhail should be strung up for many things but he made some great amps along the way.
  23. I signed up last night, so thanks for running this! It is very cool that Citrix is matching. I have a love/hate relationship with the program because it can be a pain, but it is really a great thing for working on the road or from home. Good luck winning some of the runner-up prizes, because this kind of thing seems to work out for me somehow.

  25. Bummer Pete! Hope you can get it back in action without much delay or trouble. JP nailed some things right there. And by far the PC-1 is the best cart I have had on my table. Very happy to have gotten it in nearly new condition for $4K less than list!
