May 23, 201412 yr The 1000 does look nice but I have been fighting so much with my Garmin gear lately, (stripped out the tiny screws on my HR monitor strap, batteries dead on everything I pick up, Garmin in the car keeps taking me off highways only to tell me to get right back on at the next entrance or directs me to take surface streets right next to an empty highway for miles and miles) that I will definitely wait a bit. I am looking for a less racer helmet to wear for the commute. I kind of like the looks of the POC Octal that Garmin Sharp uses but I have read they do not work well with sunglasses. Anyone have recommendations for a less-spaceship looking helmet than my S-Works Prevails?
May 23, 201412 yr I figure I'm pretty much doomed to look like a goofy bastard in a helmet so why worry.
May 23, 201412 yr Maybe you can try something like this With one of its numerous accessories Then you certainly wouldn't look goofy.
May 23, 201412 yr I have nothing as far as a helmet is concerned but these work pretty good if you want to turn a pair of Chuck Taylors into cycling shoes. http://www.retrofitz.com/index.html
May 23, 201412 yr I like that the POC helmet has the outer shell wrapped around the bottom of the helmet. Such a nice feature for anything BUT a "weight is the only object" helmet. It should really help prevent the bottom edge of the helmet from getting those stupid dents all the time. Have you looked at the Smith Forefront? http://www.smithoptics.com/forefront Should hopefully have better sunglass compatibility, although I have not seen one.
May 24, 201412 yr Got the Calfee all cleaned and prepped for a ride tomorrow. Any of the locals riding tomorrow?
May 24, 201412 yr I am around all weekend. I know Ben said he is doing some crazy long ride tomorrow that I would need a car for but he might be interested in something today or Monday if it happens.
May 24, 201412 yr Justin come to the lake and ride with me a whole lot closer. Anyone else is welcome too. Edited May 24, 201412 yr by Dreadhead
May 24, 201412 yr Turns out the Spot weighs in at 27 pounds 11 oz with rack, lights and fenders on. With the crazy Kryptonite locks and bag I would guess it goes up to around 127 lbs.
May 24, 201412 yr Nate, weren't you looking for a garmin 800? http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=149114
May 24, 201412 yr With the crazy Kryptonite locks and bag I would guess it goes up to around 127 lbs. Is this serious Jeff or funny Jeff talking? Got out at 645 this morning to make a beach trip with my family but it was so humid that I was soaked within 30 mins of leaving my place
May 24, 201412 yr Nate, weren't you looking for a garmin 800? http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=149114 Yes, but that doesn't seem like much of a deal compared to brand new here - http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Edge-GPS-Enabled-Cycling-Computer/dp/B0041O5X8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400953093&sr=8-1&keywords=garmin+800 Nice ride, Raf. I'd love to get out for 40 or so this weekend if weather permits it.

May 25, 201412 yr Justin come to the lake and ride with me a whole lot closer. Anyone else is welcome too. I'd love to come down to the lake ride, but alas, this weekend is not good. Keeep me in the loop for future dates I did the usual Beach Dr. loop today. Nice weather.
May 25, 201412 yr For all you guys with heart monitors, on a typical ride what is your max heart rate?
