I use Modu chassis. I don't have special tools, so my amps are very simple design. On this case I used a "Pesante 2U", but I added an extra side panel (of the same model) in the middle.

Just finished my KSA-5 Build, still need some work to refine 

 

 

Cool builds, guys! Tho, if I'm ever building a KSA5 clone, I'm calling it Krall!

Yeh we've seen that it's already been posted. Probably still good sounding compared to many others out there.

Did anyone fix up that poorly designed Vbe multiplier in the original schematic that KG published on the 1st page of this thread?

Why on earth would we do that?  This is a clone so the board will stay exactly as Krell left it. 

So you don't want to fix the mistake? Whatever makes you happy. KG should know what's wrong with it.

 

I wouldn't be running it that way.

Do you even get the concept of cloning?  We have improved plenty of amps and other designs over the years but this is a direct clone so it will be done 100% as Krell did it. 

the klone was done exactly as the original. Same exact board size.

Each component in exactly the same place. Layout the same. Except

done by computer, not tape and mylar.

they made all sorts of awful modifications.

That's great and a lovely job as well. Credit where credit is due.

 

However you could have had the same physical layout and with some finesse with component values and the transistor used for the Vbe multiplier fixed up the blunder in the original design that has potential to compromise the output stage reliability.

 

Just because Krell designed a potential hand grenade would it be fitting of a clone to leave it that way?

 

I don't want a clone or a clone of a clone. I wouldn't use the circuit Krell used.
